The endorsement of Obama by both Buffett and Powell is strong evidence that they too are Socialists.
Powell said when he endorsed Obama that he had grown tired of McCain's negative campaigning and that the American people would prefer to focus on issues like education, infrastructure and the economy. He specifically slammed Palin's allegation that Obama's tax plan is socialist, calling it misleading.
"Taxes are always a redistribution of money. Most of the taxes that are redistributed go back to those who pay them -- in roads and airports and hospitals and schools," President Bush's former secretary of state said. "And taxes are necessary for the common good, and there's nothing wrong with examining what our tax structure is or who should be paying more, who should be paying less.
"For us to say that makes you a socialist, I think, is an unfortunate characterization that isn't accurate."
I am so glad that the Mooselady will save us from this "redistribution of wealth" called Socialism.

First of all, Buffett has for many years argued for higher taxes, including the death tax. Second, Powell did not indicate in his endorsement that he was for redistribution of wealth. One can only infer that based on his support of a candidate quoted as saying he "wants to spread the wealth around". A primary tenet of socialism is the redistribution of wealth and collective ownership of the means to generate......from those according to their ability to those according to their need.
What you don't understand is that you can actually raise tax revenues without resorting to class envy or sticking it to the wealthy.

If most tax dollars are "redistributed' to those who paid them as Powell states, then the top 25% of wage earners, who pay 80% of the collected taxes, should be the primary recipients of Powell's generosity. We all know that this does not happen. It's the 50% of the lowest wage earners who pay a mere 4% of the tax bill that receives the most benefit from redistribution and herein lies the problem. How dare Powell say he knows better how to spend my money than I do. Powells a RINO and I despise him.

Now, now.....you just need to come to grips with the fact that elitists like Powell and Obamination know better how to share your wealth than you do. After all, you didn't attend NYU or Harvard like they did. I appreciate Powell for many things but he is indeed a RINO of the first order and has always been one. What I find ironic is Powell is glorified for his "principaled" decision to "cross the aisle" and support Obomination while Lieberman is pilloried in the press as a traitor. Gee, I don't remember Lieberman being invited to Meet the dePressed to tell his whole story.....

MCCAIN: That's the reason why we have governments, to help those who need help, who can't help themselves,
Doesn't sound too conservative to me. But, I am sure the Right can twist it to show that McCain was tricked into saying that.

First of all my hero on the right isn't George Bush so don't try to put words in my mouth...so to speak. I am not into hero worship nor do I look at a politician as anything other than what they are...unlike the way liberals fawn over the Messiah Obomination. The problem is not necessarily that they went to an Ivy League school, its the attitude they take away from that school....one of elitism and the belief that they know better what is best for America than the average American.
However, I greatly admire Ronald Reagan and believe that he was unique in that he had core beliefs and pursued them in a good natured and effective way.

You misunderstand what McCain is saying which is no surprise. Certainly one function of government is to help those in need. The difference between a liberal and a conservative is the definition of who is really in need and the means to obtain those funds. Liberals believe that people who make too much money needs to be punished with higher taxes to give to those who have not taken the risks or obtained the education to excel in the marketplace. Conservatives actually have confidence in the individual and do not view the world as a zero sum game. You just don't understand basic economics or human nature. You do what feels good regardless of the true damage done.

plan to tax higher income people more if his plan was not to just give it to people that pay no taxes already. If he was saying he was going to take that money and let people that want to develop their skills more so they could qualify for a higher paying job to "earn" more it may make sense. But just giving money to people in many cases are where they are because they did not apply themself in school or are just lazy is foolish. Does he think throwing money at them is going to motivate them somehow. Will they take this move to improve their education and create a better life .... of course not. It will show them that what they are doing is just fine and the big O will just take from someone else so they can continue to be a nothing.

There are those in society that truly require assistance for various reasons that institutions, including government when responsible, ought to be able to compassionately help. I do not include in this list those who are not self-reliant, who are easily distracted, untrustworthy, lack initiative, traits that prevent one from being able to work independently in society. These are not the individuals that I think McCain is referring to.......
