since my alma mater the University of Dayton dropped down to Division III and left the Division I national championship field to other lesser teams like Alabama, USC, Flroida, FSU, etc. ;-)

Univ of Dayton (Ohio) went to Div. III in 1979 or so......I was jesting about them in football, especially now that I live in the SEC/ACC world. No reason you should be familiar with them. :-) They do still play Div I basketball but when you are situated between Ohio State, Indiana, Notre Dame, Lousville, Univ Kentucky, etc. it is tough to win recruiting contests for kids that want to play in the midwest. UD still makes it to the NCAA tournament every few years.
