OK...what the heck was wrong with Doug Gray? Was he drunk, sick, or has his voice just left him after all these years? And how rude...he had no idea who opened for them. I first saw them in 1978...wow this was sad.

Boy you can say that again. That was the worst performance by a group I have seen at the Amphitheater. The venue was great, the crowd definitely showed and the first two bands were great. The lead singer (if you want to call him that) for Marshall Tucker definitely had a problem of some sort. He stood with his tamborine facing the drummer and his back to the audience 1/2 the performance, his voice was nonexistent, the profanity was embarrassing and I hope Russell Lands asks for a refund. He put the microphone to the crown most of the 5 songs they sang - guess he knew the crowd could sing better than he could. Just makes you wonder?!?

correction - microphone to the "crowd".

Wow, what a disappointment. After waiting for over three hours to hear MTB and then Doug Gray totally blew it. It was obvious the crowd, the band, even the guy selling t-shirts knew something was up. I almost wanted to stay til the end so I could see just how bad it could possibly get, but it was just too much to bear. How someone can sing a song for over thirty years for a band that they founded and make it sound so bad is beyond me. I'll give him the benefit of being drunk or high (or drunk and high) and hope that it was an isolated incident. If not, the days of MTB are rapidly drawing to a close. My best friend was almost in tears. He had waited eons to see this group and was so disappointed that I had to drive his boat home for him.

Yes that was very disapointing, I was really looking forward to seeing/hearing them. The band was great but he flat out has no voice left.

ARS was outstanding. It was worth going just to see them

He is definitely not the only aging rocker out there who doesn't know when to hang it up.
