They ranked Dadeville in the top 12 nationally. I only skimmed it, but their methodology sounds stupid. They looked at home price appreciation of the nearest metropolitan area (Auburn-Opelika), found it below the national average while employment growth is above the national average. Then they said, look, there is a lake nearby in Dadeville, sounds like a fun spot for a vacation home. Sounds to me like they proved Auburn is still a good place to live, but are they so stupid as to think housing prices in Auburn are an indicator of prices on the lake in Dadeville?

Sorry Willow Point, Trillium, The Ridge, etc. -- you don't count. Looks like the big ole' Dadeville side of the lake is the place to be!!

Gucci, Rolex, Starbucks, Tiffany, and the list goes on. How about a Bentley dealer to replace the Chevy showroom? Just keep it on that side of the Lake.

I can't imagine what people from LA, NYC, Detroit, Chicago, Houston and the Twin Cities will think when they first ride into Dadeville for the very first time.

No, No!! All those yuppie luxuries will be sent to Dadeville's southern suburbs (otherwise known as the Blue Creek Projects). Pickups and good ole' boys will still reign 'on the square'.

Ha, ha. After those LA, NYC etc people visit the Dollar Store and Piggly Wiggly in Dadeville, they can begin their lake tour with a ride through Holiday Shores.

No, feb started this nonsense about Dadeville. The article was written about "value" vacation spots -- Oconee doesn't fit in that criteria --it's already ruined.

Hey I just wanted to chime in, I miss the Lake and wish I could be there for Christmas.. I'm as addicted to Starbucks Mooca's and Frap's in the summer and it's a bummer not being at the lake. Merry Christmas too all and too a good night. Starbucks - Lake Martin WOW For as much grief one might have againzst the coffee giant, I think the Journel and the worlds caught the bait - pardon the pun. Merry Christmas all..
