My brother-in-law in Norfolk has a 23 foot 2006 Yamaha jet boat he is thinking about trading for a traditional inboard/outboard configuration. He has offered to sell me the boat for use here at lake Martin. I have two grandchildren 4 and 6 and the absence of a prop and the associated dangers is compelling. Have any of you had experience with one of these boats? I understand that the boat's handling charateristics are a bit challenging at low speed but have dirven his and they seem manageable with some practice. Thanks in advance for your responses.

I prefer a pontoon for cruising (smoother) and a direct drive inboard for skiing, but I do have friends with jet boats and they are happy. Jet boats seem to be a reasonable all purpose boat and my Yamaha wave runners are very reliable, so I would think their boats would be dependable. If you like the boat, the ride, the power, and the price is right....go for it.

I have (had) and Searay SeaRader that has the same setup. Loved it! Fun ride and in smooth water, was more fun and drier than a jetski. But the motor is toasted so I didn't get to enjoy it long enough.
BTW. Mine uses a 90hp Mercuriser power head. If anybody has such an outboard with a good powerhead, I could sure use one. Mid 90's year model.
Peace, <>< TC
