I posted a question on here a while back needing somebody to backfill my seawall. I was given the name of Charlie Phillips Jr. I have to agree that he is a good hard-working man. I am very pleased with his work ethic and cleanliness. He even took a blower and blew the dirt and sand of the driveway when he was finished. I have dealt with contractors for years in Ga, and this is my first recommendation. 256-7498447 is his number. And no, this is not a paid advertisement. I just believe in helping a good man when I can.

I'm very glad you used Charlie and got good results. Usually I hesitate to recommend anyone, but Charlie has that unique (in this area) quality of wanting to be a success and do a good job.

Just our two cents worth on the subject of contractors. We had been part-timers for over a year and have now finally moved to the "Lake" full time. We hired a contractor referred to us by a friend and have had excellent results. We had a deck, set of steps and a retaining wall built. The work is beyond what we expected and the crew is superb. They are consideate of the kids and never use questionable language. Then deck is built like a fort and everyone that sees it can't believe the quality. Should you want to check it out your self we are on the 280 end of the lake across from the slalom course.

The contractorr is D. R. Deas and we only know him through a referral. This is not an advertisement either but we would highly recommend him to anyone.

What type of work do both these contractors do? As always looking for good folks to do work for me.

Paint
Electric
Plumbing
Excavation
Remodels
Hardwood floors
Tile floors
Porches
Docks
Gutter
Vinyl siding
etc.

Maverick, you've hit on something that could make this Forum really worthwhile. Is there some way we could keep a recommended list of contractors, and ones to avoid, so that all could benefit?

I believe all Charlie does is grading and clearing type work. He did say he will come back and sod the place he back-filled. Also mentioned he can put in sea walls, but he does no masonry work.

T Bird, and all. I have had work done by D.R. Deas as well. My results seem to be 180degrees off from yours. I would like to invite anyone who is thinking of using him to come over and look at the work he has done here before making a decision.

Im fixing to build in couple months,this is good info because im going to sub it out my self. Kenny Carter(Carter Construction)on the corner of 280 and Pecker Wood road would be my choice for grading and septic tank work,also land clearing.He has done some extensive work on my place now and every penny was worth it.
