Your delusion that Auburn's academics is so much higher that Alabama's is interesting.
It could be that UAB, Samford, Troy, Birmingham Southern might rate higer in some areas they Alabama or Auburn.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for giving me the chance to catch you all up on what I once thought was the FLAGSHIP university of Alabama.
But it seems, the TIDE has changed...pun intended....
As many of you know, I had a child going through the Freshman admissions process 3 years ago. I was taken aback by some of the things we researched. So now for a current update on what surprised me even then seeing different scores, but the same margin differences.
For Fall 2004...the Freshman class requirements for both Alabama and Auburn were as follows:
Alabama Auburn
ACT - 20 ACT - 24.3 SAT - 950 SAT - 1170 GPA - 3.0 GPA - 3 .53
Now these are just averages, of course, but it would seem that the higher AVERAGES have higher scores all the way around.

Bama fans - read it and weep.

JAW, their talking about football, smarts has nothing to do with the thread. What it amounts to ,we have a bunch of idiots playing football these days. MIT does not even have a team. Da`m all anybody has to do is look at the players on the field. The referes all the smart ones on the field. To be honest, I was glad to see Vandy beat Ga. Compare Vandy with the rest of the SEC as far as smarts are concerned.

I think your data is old, Jaws. Here is the latest from the Prinston Review. As you can see, Bama and Auburn are very close. One must look at a particular program to decide which school is better. (I also threw in Ga Tech since it was in the thread you pulled this from)
Auburn Average GPA: 3.52 Average SAT: 1127 Average ACT: 24
Alabama Average GPA: 3.40 Average SAT: 1128 Average ACT: 24
Ga Tech Average GPA: 3.70 Average SAT: 1328 Average ACT: 28

Alabama Average GPA: 3.40 Average SAT: 1128 Average ACT: 24
Ga Tech Average GPA: 3.70 Average SAT: 1328 Average ACT: 28 **************************************************************************************************** The information I gave was what I looked up 45 minutes ago on their web pages (I posted the addresses.) It does say 2004, but that's what they had.
I also went on line for Georgia Tech. TECH is saying the Freshman profile looks like this and it is different from the Princeton Review (although it does say the Freshman class of 2005) :
GPA: 3.74 SAT : verbal 600-700 math: 650-740 combination: 1270-1410 (which averages out to 1340)
ACT: English: 26-31 Math: 29-33
Just slightly different.
I still have our 2003 Princeton Review (copyright 2002), and Auburn and Alabama's scores are very close as well...just like your post of 2005 scores.
But their web sites are saying something entirely different. It's their own words. It's what they wanted to project.
My son received (not bragging...but, well, OK, I am) $180,000 TOTAL academic scholarship $$$. Only $40,000 was solicited because Stetson is a private school. The rest came out of the blue - some from schools after he applied....some schools he never even thought about. (My favorite was from Liberty University - $4,000 - you know- -Jerry Falwell's school in Kentucky. That was FUNNY! - I have an almost agnostic son.)
Alabama offered him $8,000 toward 4 years and he didn't even apply there either.

attending college? Liberty U.?

The link you gave took me to the Assumption University of Thailand; could that be the problem with the major difference?..... or was it a typo.
Thanks for the good luck wish. We have one this year and another next . Both are in the 32-33 range on the Math/Science part of the ACT and around 1300 on the SAT, so I'm sure they will go somewhere decent.

Isn't that hilarious??????
No, he started (on scholarship at Florida State - oh, I can hear it now.....) hated it (I can hear that, too. ) and only lasted a semester Came back to Georgia. Georgia Tech doesn't have his undergraduate major. They do have it in their master's program. So he is on HOPE at Southern Polytech and could be in the Honors Program...but doesn't want to (I think he said you have to do stuff - like visit homeless shelters, etc.) and he wants to do only what he wants to do (he just turned 21 and is full of himself - LOL) which is:
major in IT with a degree in Network Security. He is already CISCO Systems trained (graduated from the CISCO Systems Academy) Southern Poly hired him as a Freshman for Tech Support.
He might co-op Winter quarter.
Even though he IS a computer nerd, he was Captain of his football team. AND could have played college ball as well. Doesn't seem to fit, does it?

yes, I think they can go where they want.
The university of Georgia does say on their web site, they look at GPA 2-1 over test scores. But I bet their GPA is also fine.
But you don't live in Georgia, do you?
The whole process is fascinating to me. I read THE GATEKEEPERS at the beach once. Not light reading.

Both are in the high 3's at Stars Mill in Fayette Co. My son is an Eagle Scout and my daughter is president of the Future Business Leaders of America club at school. Both do Science Olympics and both are far more focused than I was at that age in taking AP and honors classes.....must come from their mom (the Auburn grad).
