Just want to inform everyone about a BoatU.S. insurance claim. They have insured my Formula 31 cruiser for almost three years, and recently I had an outdrive leak, took on water and did some pretty heavy damage. The estimate was given to them, they came back with a "net settlement"  amount, sent me a check for 1/2 the amount, the marina completed the work, then BoatU.S. came back with a new "net settlement" $4,000.00 less.!!! I have a complaint filed with the insurance commissioners office in Montgomery and a lawyer waiting in the wings. Just wanted to make everyone aware of this company! Beware!! They were great until a claim was filed!!

Maybe I misunderstood this, but what kinda outdrive leak did you have, and how was it created by something insurance would cover? Just curious? Jeff

What was their reasons? If they agreed, signed off, and sent a deposit check, they are committed. I deal with insurance all the time, so I know how this goes. Normally they pay in full, so a little flag there but anyways, what did they say? Also has the marina went to bat for you as well?
