Looking for an exterminator to find and eliminate a yellow jacket nest in my yard.  Got hit multiple times while mowing yesterday and haven’t been able to pinpoint the nest hole.  Wife is dangerously allergic so need to get rid of it soon!  Chucks Marina area. Thanks in advance!

Give S&S Termite in Opelika a call.  If they can't/don/t I would iomagine they will recomend someone who can/will.

An easy way to kill them is locate the entrance to the nest and at night just pour gas down the hole.

Hey Capt...

Same exact thing happened to me while mowing Wednesday afternoon. Must be the time of year they become very active.

Also have wife with low tolerance.

Thanks, all

That's also a way to get majorly stung, because when they come out of that nest, they are angry and in a stinging frame of mind.

We use SWAT exterminators, and I believe they are out of Tallessee.  A couple of things about the yellow jackets.  Apparently because of our mild winter, they are extra plentiful this year, and have made some impressive nests - bigger than they have seen in some years.  They will also make a nest in the ground - which may be why you were attacked while mowing.  The advice they gave (this was a WSFA article on FB), is to call in the professionals and do not attempt to handle it yourself.  The article mentioned how when the nest is attacked, those yellow jackets come out swarming and ready to sting.

Gas worked for me just after dark night before last.  SOBs won’t sting me again!??

Was clearing an area for a storage shed today with my weed eater and felt something on my ear...kind of like a horse fly bite...soon followed by an unmistakeable pop that set the ear on fire.  I exited the area with some haste (ran like hell!) until I got far enough away and saw the little buggers swarming around a small sapling I had just attacked with the weed eater.  When I pinpointed the aparent center of their evil universe I tossed a piece of 2x4 onto it, and watched as dozens of them attacked the wood.

That was hours ago and my ear still hurts.  I will be calling S&S Monday morning!
