Did I actually see a VERY slight rise in level this weekend. Didn't it go from 487.5 to 487.6? I realize its not much, but that can't be anything but good news.

I don't really know how the lake could not go up some from this past week of rain. I have 2 rain gauges which both usually have the same amount in them....I got 5.25 on Thursday night, 1.25 on Friday night, 2 on Saturday and it rained all day yesterday but I haven't checked the gauges. Also, on the news last night WSFA reported that we are only 4 inches below normal at this point. The most rain in the month of July in recent history. I am in the Pike Road area so I realize the factor of being south of the lake is not helpful and realize what I get is not what the lake gets, I also realize that to benefit the lake the most it needs to rain in the north GA area. The rain didn't just originate in Pike Road...it moved all over the state and over GA too. With almost 10 inches of rain this past week at my house, the least we should expect is for the water to "remain idle" at this point...correct? AL Power....any input on this?

it is an inch or two lower than yesterday. We had a good, steady rain on the north end of the lake, but I don't think the basin north of us got much at all.
Its summer. The drought is on. The lake will generally drop, the only question is "how fast?" This year seems to be a good year though, as the drop has been slow and gradual. More normal than what we've seen the past 2-3 years.

It did indeed rise with the rain over the weekend. There was significantly more rain north of the Lake in the watershed which really helps as much if not more than rain right at the lake. Also combine that with minimal releases by APCO and we got a small rise. It actually helps more than just a 0.1 foot rise over 3 days. If you look at the levels over the last several weeks it was dropping 0.1 to 0.2 feet per day. So a rise of 0.1 foot is actually 0.3 to 0.4 feet higher than it would have been had we not gotten the rain. If you look at the APCO site they predicted the level to be at 487' by July 13. Instead it is at 487.6 on the 14th. Hopefully it will hold 487.6 for another day or so before it starts to drop again. Just pray for more rainy periods like we just had and we will get through Labor Day with decent levels. And if we manage to get a tropical storm........

Catherine: If you look at the APCO site (https://lakes.alabamapower.com/) it shows a rise in the levels over the last few days. I was just curious where you saw the water level drop or was it a measurement at home. I was there yesterday and it seemed up a bit to me which is consistent with APCO's measurements.

We had a downpour in Blue Creek Sunday afternoon around 1:30pm. Rained for some 30-45 minutes. Best rain I believe I have seen in two years. It was so hard I could hardly seen the lake from inside the cabin. This seems to be a more normal rain pattern at the lake similar to past years. On several afternoons a week, in the past, one could almost count on a a thunderstorm around 3pm.
Delighted.

I don't pay really close attention (daily) but I noticed this morning that the water seemed lower than it had in a few days. Probably just that I hadn't really paid it much attention lately.
I have a gangway to my floating dock. I usually notice if the angle gets steeper, especially when it flass from, or rises to perpendicular.Its at about 10% now?

It's all because I turned off my sprinklers for the last 3 days. No rain today, so I guess I'll have to turn them on again tomorrow and the water level will drop again......sorry.
