I am finally the proud owner of Dish Network TV. After all my trials and tribulations, I decided to take the advice of 1 of our Forum contributors, DirtDiva and called a local independent called CableBusters. As Dirt said, they scheduled a specific time to install, not a 5 hour window. He would have beat me to the house, I was right behind him, had he not missed the next-to- last turn. He actually had about 30 years experience in his profession, unlike the 2 Charter guys who probably didn't have 30 years of birthdays between them. All was installed in less than 2 hours. I can't recommend these folks enough. You get the same deal you would get if you went direct and free installation. I also learned they have some great deals on LCD TVs. Going to there store tomorrow to check em out. Thanks again Dirt.

I left their stuff at home but, their phone # is 256-825-9939. Tell them Lamont sent you. However, if you decide on Direct TV, rather than Dish, use DirtDiva's name as I think you get some kind of "finders fee" from Direct TV and Dirt is the one who led me to them. I ended up with Dish so, my friend Dirt, got nothing. They are located on 280, just past the Mac Donalds on the left headed towards Alex City.

I too have had lots of downs with Charter. However, recently one of my condo owners had scheduled Charter to install internet. He gave them my cell number. Day before install, recording called confirming appointment. I could not make that one. Installer called me to see when I could make it. He reset appt to next morning. Next morning, recording called to confirm, so did the installer. He arrived in the appointment time, found and fixed a problem and had everything up good before he left.

I would love to meet this anomoly. He can't last long in that environment. Just my humble opinion.

Glad it worked out for you. Something so simple should not have to be as hard as what you have gone through.

I don't want to hijack this thread. But given the number of negative (deserved) posts about Charter, I thought a really good experience with them should get mentioned as well.
