Let's talk a little local politics. Does anyone agree with the Republican legislature attempt to raid the Trust Fund??

More of taking from our future to fund today - reminds me of Whimpy at the hamburger stand - "I will gladly pay you tomorrow for a hambuger you give me today" (or something like that)....  Add the $3 million tab for the vote (I know - to get it done before the fiscal year starts).

Considering the scare tactics the proponents are using and not suggesting other places to cut the budget, I'd vote against it. This is all about short-term budgeting and re-elections. Governor Bentley needs to keep state employees happy through his 2013 campaign. In the long-term, Alabama is going to need that money when federal grants to the states are reduced... And that will happen. Make some tough decisions now. Don't wait! This is an article on the matter.

It is important to vote, and vote NO. The republican legislators should be embarrassed to support such a stupid proposal. They were not sent to Montgomery to act like democrats. As the democrats preach, vote early and often, and vote NO. It's not about Medicaid, it's about state payroll cuts, and payroll cuts ain't a bad thing.

Alabama Republican legislators are pathetic. They run for office and preach fiscal responsibility. Then win, take control, and forget their promises. Truly pathetic and their followers will continue to vote blindly for these losers. VOTE NO on the referendum and throw them out when they run again. Don't give me this crap about Obama and the Democrats and fiscal responsibility..

GF, you are really funny when it comes to this stuff. If Oblamer or the Dems in Congress do something like this then it is OK but you appear to be outraged when someone in the GOP steps out of line. Dude, at least show a modicum of consistency or intellectual honesty. I would much rather address this kind of behavior as the exception with Republicans rather than the rule with Dems. Vote GOP and you get occasional fiscal stupidity. Vote Democrat and you get it 24/7/365! You just crack me up......reminds me how you were outraged with Bush's $196B budget deficit but don't seem to care about the Messiah's $1.3T (that's $1,300B for the mathematically challenged). ROFLMA!! Romney/Ryan 2012!!!

Blame that GOP governor and his GOP sheep in the legislature. Enjoy your fiscal responsible right wing nuts that you elected in Alabama, BAH BAH!!! Now, you and your fellow sheep can follow that loser RINOromney as he takes the party down. Even his own party is distancing themselves from him as they run for the House and Senate. OBAMA 2012

What you folks need in that state is an active conservative movement that is truly conservative (libertarian conservative)... that can raise funds and get volunteers to do leg work. From what I read, there were a lot of publicized proponents using GOTV tactics and the opposition was not heard from as much. The problem with these things are the people that benefit financially from legislation don't mind spending some money to promote it. Often the people the legislation hurts can't raise the funds to promote their side. I heard there were proponent robo-calls. Were there opposition robo-calls? Combating that kind of stuff takes organization and thousands of dollars. Do you guys have a centralized place to get registered voter data?

I am pleased to see that you appreciate what Obama has had to go through trying to clean up the Bush mess .Unlike most of the other posters, this post shows you to be more fair and balanced. OBAMA 2012
