I have to tell you the lake looks so good - it is hard to believe after the last two years. Kudos to Alabama Power for giving us what looks like a full pool on March 18 as opposed to may 1 under "normal" circumstances. I know it still has about 18" to go but if you look at athe 10 year average the highest we ever get is 489.

Bring on the bling, the PWCs, the Cat Boats and picnics on deserted islands. Here's to the best summer in years.

I am with ya 8!! I was calling it full this weekend. I have grown thru the year to consider 489 as full pool and anything above that as 'bonus water'. It keeps me much happier. Some folks aren't happy unless it is pegging 490, which it only does a few days a year. the rest of the time it hangs around 489.5.

It is really clearing up too, color wise. There is STILL a lot of hidden hazards though. Boat carefully.

Sounds great, guys! I am still about a week away from being able to come and enjoy the lake. I hope you full-timers will get some of those hazards out of the way of old folks with bad eyesight--like me.

It is so amazing to see the lake like this. Last year, it was easy to forget how really beautiful Lake Martin is. Thank you Alabama Power!

Absolutely-thank you Alabama Power!!!! We spend so much of our time in the years past complaining about APC as to the lake level. This time they are to be commended for taking an aggressive stance so as to get the lake back to where it is. I hope someone form the company reads these posts.

Coming up after church Sunday for spring break. Yahoo!!

Yea APCO had NOTHING to do with filling the lake a month early while we are still in severe drought conditions. But I am talking to boob, who all last year thought he could do a better job than APCO.

Come on bob, what did APCO do to tick you aff so bad?

You make a controversy out of my Thanking God primarily with an assist to AL power? You really should "lean into the strike zone and take one for the team"...Complete and total loser hated by almost everyone...what a guy :)

Tell us what you really think. I am not the one that stooped to name calling. I just asked why you hate APCO so. To read your posts, they can't do anything right. Once again I will remind you that we are still in severe drought conditions, yet the lake is full. Last year you were claiming it would be years before the lake got full again. I give the credit to APCO with an assist to God. Se had these same rains last year, but APCO had to let the water go. But thanks to computer modeling APCO got the lake full, in spite of remaining in a drought.

It breaks my heart that you don't like me though......lol.

I have to agree with both of you. APCO has done a great job getting the lake up and not letting to much water out, but it did help we got that huge rain storm that helped the lake raise 4' in a week. So again hat's off to APCO and hopefully we can keep getting rain to maintain the level when they start releasing water.

Yes Bishop the big rain did help, but if you read the varaince request APCO stated in it that in the last two years, there had been 2 rain events in each year, during the timeframe of the variance request, that would have filled the lake. Of course in past years that water went straight through due to the 'rule curve'. It was historical data and computer modeling that gave APCO the forsight for this year. History had shown that the water would come then, so they asked to be able to keep it. Pretty simple really. It also makes a great argument for more local control and greater response time from the Corps and the FERC.
