With the first round of layoffs now complete (and it did indeed include some middle management as reported), we await the second round, which will coincide with Aquapalooza next weekend. My guess is these will occur after the event, giving those affected a few more days pay and allowing them to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Thanks to all those who served Russell Lands so well for so long, and to those who will be leaving at the end of the month. Keep your chins up, and know that we're all pulling for you!

this is fair to those affected? You've made it quite clear for a long time you don't like RL -- but a post like this and the one you made right before the 4th seems just plain mean to me.

Who got canned, and is it anywhere on the internet?

Ditto that. People losing jobs and the affect on families is not something to gloat about. Don't matter if you hate/love RL. This is about the people.

If the company cared as much about the people as this web forum does, discussions like this one wouldn't happen. But the point is that those people matter very little to RL, and are tossed on the scrap heap with no regard to past performance or personal feelings. And while business is business, the fact that this is the only place you ever hear anything negative about RL should tell you plenty about the sneaky and underhanded way they go about things. And yes, when it comes to the way things work there, I'm as much of an insider as you'll find.

may be true. But, if you were nervous about your job, would you want to come here and find someone gloating about it? Companies do what companies do and I'm sure RL is no better or worse than any others, but it's people being laid off in a recessionary job market. It's not their fault, so why gloat?

I think I wished them well, and thankerd them for all they've done for us over the years.

It is no secret that more are going to be laid off soon, as it was no secret that some were to be laid off right after the 4th (and they were).

I speak to one of those who will lose his job in another week or two, He is aware, and we have talked about it at length. My intention of posting here was to thank them, and give others the opportunity to thank them while they are still in the area as well.

Those in middle and upper management who will be laid off will likely relocate, and many of us have developed friendshipos over the years, contrary to this forums opinion of me and my relationship to Russell Lands and their employees.

Russel Lands employees are like all other companies'. Some are great people, some are not.

Russell Lands was once a great company, but I don't think it is any secret that their reputation has fallen from where it was only a few years ago. Poor customer relations and a focus on profit alone will generally do that to any company, not just Russell Lands.

It would probably help the company some if Ben still contributed his input on issues fdrom time to time, but it is understandable that at this stage in hios life, as long a the money is right, he wouldn't want to expend much energy on it anymore.

I meant no harm or disrespect. That you found it lies with you, and not me.

Several more employees, as well as a few in middle management this time. Word is that the Aquapalayoffs will be middle (some would call some of thes "upper") management. There simply aren't many employees to layoff remaining, so the only way to cut costs is to eliminate the jobs that were created to accomodate all those fired by Russell Corp.

There's no reason to try to sugarcoat your hatred for Russell by offering some lame explanation for your original post. Otherwise, you would not have put 10-days worth of thought into coming up with a play on words subject heading. Just admit it - you hope they fold - you've as much as have admitted it in the past. You have ZERO sympathy for the folks that may have lost their jobs - this allows you to sit on your high chair and say, "I told you so!!!!". So, put your "big girl" panties back on and TRY to ACT like you actually care about people and their families welfare.
