when the HOBO was formed, big boats fast boats had already been banned prior to the Organizational meeting.

That being the case there was no "stake" to represent.

In addition the law suit had already been filed the power company had intervened.

and LTL, you kind of have a conflict here. You are a longtime supporter of APCO and they came out against you in the legal proceedings.
Or did they do that before you changed your mind?

BTW my opinion on the boat ban is that anybody who already had a boat that they had been using on the lake, should have been able to keep it on the lake, if they provided affidavits and other evidence that they had been using said boat on lake Martin. These boats should have been grandfathered like other were.

Sorry but the issue is still open, there was a law suite and now an appeal they can still jump on board and show some support.

I am still a supporter of APCO. I think they do a fine job of managing the lakes. Do I think they are wrong on this issue? Absolutely. Now I will squelch your next post calling me a hypocrite. The difference is that APCO is not a tax exempt 401(c)(3) seeking donations in order to represent 'my' interest in the lake. The HOBO is. APCO makes it plain that they represent themselves and their business interest. I have never seen where APCO claimed to represent my interest as a homeowner or as a user of the lake. Will they pay lip service to any and all organizations that form wishing and hoping to control things? You better believe it. But lip service is all you will get. If you don't believe that, try advocating for somehting that APCO opposes and see how far you get. The Smith Lake stakeholders found out about this in a harsh way a couple of years ago. In fact someone posting of their attempts to control the lake, and the lip service they got from APCO was the impetus of the HOBO's being founded.

If the issue were dead why then would you mention it in the post for the first meeting of the HOBO'S in this post?

Thats not fighting fair. How dare you go and look up old posts and use them against another member. Using someones own words against them doesn't seem quite fair.....lmao. Besides that is MY favorite trick. I am really starting to think you are just one of the voices in my head that has decided to post....lol.

Doesn't the 5th amendment prevent such behavior? To quote Ron White, 'he had the right to remain silent, he just didn't have the ability'.

You can't fix stupid!!

The boat ban was not in affect when HOBO was formed. the letter they sent out was the very reason i didnot join. The real trouble making water vehicle was not addressed. I suggest you find out what is involved in more than half the accidents on this lake and every like in alabama as far as that goes. And when you add in the reports they generate every day from being agravating the percentages go off the scale. And if my memory SERVES me right the "THREE WHEELER WENT AWAY BECAUSE OF THE SAME PROBLEM"

Here's a" line" from the HOBO'S brochure and I mean that in every sense of the word,

"Support the economic and recreational interest of Lake Martin and surrounding areas"

Boating is a recreational interest and when a boat or group of boats is being targeted to be banned they need to show that "SUPPORT". Economically as well, these boats use a "boat load" of gas, the marinas will sell less fuel since these monsters are now banned, less boats at the pumps means less people inside buying the other junk they sell. So where is the support they claim to have??????????? I think they need to refund every dime they have collected in dues then disband the organization as the first Lake Martin HOBO group did.
