We have an island in front of our house - about 100 yards out. It has a sandy beach and folks often pull up there to swim. Early this summer, a family camped there for the weekend. They left a charcoal grill in the woods - for future use - but otherwise cleaned up completely. Our family often swims, paddles, and boats over to enjoy the beach. Last weekend we added 4 plastic adirondack chairs to the beach plus an umbrella - for our use - or for anyone who stops by. Yesterday, my son discovered 2 of the chairs thrown in the woods, the grill thrown in the water, and the umbrella gone. How sad!

That indeed is a shame.. Maybe a small sign that says something like "Welcome, have a good time, be polite, reasonably quiet out of courtesy for the the providers and leave it just a little cleaner than when you arrived.. Please, or I will track you down and poop on your lawn?" Or Something like that.. might leave out the threat..
Thanks for your gift to the lake community.. Y'all are cool and welcome to come dock at the house and swing in our gazebo.. but pick up the trash..

A (wild) game camera posted discreetly on the island would probably be revealing and maybe used to apprehend the culprits. Never have understood vandalism.

It could have been a storm. I had a deck bench with 5 one gallon containers of oil in it. After a storm on Tuesday night, that deck box and two plastic Adirondike chairs were blown in to the lake.
