I've read the posts from April on said topic. If anyone has a suggestion for a non-bleach cleaner to remove black mildew stains from my pontoon cover and top, please respond. I haven't tried the water/ammon./peroxide mixture but will tomorrow, and will try to control with some DampRid. Many thanks.

Get the purple cleaner made by Zep. You can buy at Home Depot in the commercial cleaning products section. It works great. I use it every spring and it is great. Very inexpensive too.

Will this remove the black mildew stains on canvass?

absolutely ... you may need to get one of the long handle brushes to scrub a bit. But spray it on full strength, let it sit about a minute, scrub lightly then hose off. It really works great. Your top will look new.

Then go purchase the scotch guard and spray your canvas top. It will not have mildew next year. It will not fade and it will repel water. Sold in Wal-mart camping section

What is the best thing available to remove mildew from the vinyl seat covers and then what is best to prevent the mildew from coming back?

Best stuff I have ever used is Starbrite mold and mildew remover. Safe for stitching and just melts the stuff off.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.
