Anybody have a final boat count for the event? NO rumors please. If you know spread the word. Still working out in mind weather the Who concert at Madison Square Garden or this event was better. Probably this cause it was on my home turf.

I think that there was too much negative hoopla about traffic jams, signs that said prepare for traffic delays and over flow parking miles from the lake, to a point that many people stayed away fearing something much much worse than actually happened. I probably heard more people say "I'm not going into that boating nighmare" or " too much of a hassle", " too much trouble" etc.

Actually no traffic delays (snags) ever happened. Even on Saturday at 1:30 PM my family had no trouble getting to Eclectic and back, nor did another member coming from Alex City that had to cross the bridge.

The RV and Boat trailer storage (temporary) that was staged at Little Ponderosa, junction of HWY 63 and County road 80 had only One RV. I never saw a boat rig there. The second area across from Westplate marine near Red Hill Road had very few takers.

I think the seed was also planted over three weeks ago with the confusion about having to register etc. All in all I just feel that there were too many people that had an impression that it was going to be more trouble than it was worth.

I must admitt that I too was reluctant to go so I scouted the place at 1:30 PM while on my waverunner. To my surprise the number of boats was far far less than had been projected so we decided to attend . Our pontoon got to the concert at 6:10 PM and we had no troubles.

I think many folks were worried about mass confusion, and I think all of the preparation and hype was a good thing. Like you, many of my friends said they didn't want the hassel; they expected chaos. When they discovered the pre-planning and established ground rules were actually working, they joined the fun. We can all Monday morning quarterback, but the event was a huge sucess. Those that came and played by the rules had a fun and memorable experience.

I agree there were many rumors floating around about registration, attendance, etc., but the facts were easily available for those willing to do a little research....although I did hang around for an extra hour just to make sure Jimmy Buffet wasn't going to show up!

I too was one of the ones that were all for it early on but as the rumors flew, I started to withdraw from the idea.

If it had not been for Jlazc constant encouragement that I get by boat loaded up and by butt in gear I would have missed the greatest event thus far in my life.

I had a bad experience 4th of July and almost lost my boat to wake, I had got gun shy. But, I came on out and found it to be the best time I ever had in all my time on the water.

CMT website says 35,000 fans and 4,000 boats.

For such a novel event, I expected more info on the net. Seems to me, Bruce did the best job of informing us of what to expect. I've no doubt that lack of readily available info kept the numbers down. But I don't think that was real significant. Either you really were going or not.

It seems that several folks have, both prior to and after the event, compared the experience to the fireworks display. I wonder if any consideration is being given to a similar setup next year for that event.

We wondered if an extended policed 'no wake zone' for the 4th of July fireworks would help with the problems when the show is over. Next year will be another 3 day weekend, a lot of people will be on the water!

35,000 people/4000 boats = 8.75 people per boat. I didn't see many boats approching 9 people per boat. Makes me go hmmmmmm.

We had 7 on our boat and both boats on either side at least 10-12 people apiece. I saw some pontoon boats with as many as 15-16 people. I agree that there would have been more had everyone known it would have gone so smoothly. Great time.

We had 11 with us on one boat and a seadoo. We did not register either.
