I visited Lake Martin recently and noticed that alcohol sales boosted the local economy with restaurants and entertainment. Why do the residents of Wedowee continue to subdue their own economy by not passing the alcohol law. There are too many Wedowee locals and business' leaving the area for entertainment.

I'm with you but this is what I read in an article in the Anniston Star when it was up for a vote.
It has to do with tax revenue. Randolph Co is given $400,000+ to stay dry by the TVA. Randolph Co did a study a year or so ago using Clay Co as a model cause they just recently went wet. clay co brought in somewhere over $200,000 of taxes on alcohol. Clay Co is twice the size of Randolph.

I visited with frieds at Lake Martin this past weekend and it was quite the good time. It was not the alcohol because we do not drink but the town was booming with business due to the crowds the lake attracts. I honestly believe if alcohol sales were allowed at Lake Wedowee the town and county will discover great financial benefits. If not, the younger generation of citizens will soon leave the area for employment....its time to consider beer and wine sales!!!

If larger crowds visit lake wedowee because we now sell alcohol then all businesses will succeed and bring tax dollars from everyone. Its a win/win otherwise businesses will continue to fail and the younger generation of our population will leave for better jobs and life styles!
