Don't we already know everything there is to know about dirt roads? You scrape them, it rains, the county comes in and scrapes them again. What is the big experiment?

My guess is, can they find someone stupid enough to buy a $900,000, wood shack on a dirt road.  That's an experiment in my book

It would be a tax payer surprise if the county would accept the financial responsibility of maintaining a “dirt road” in a new subdivision. I prefer pavement, especially on a rainy day!

Are you saying it WOULD be a surprise IF it happened, or that it WILL be a surprise WHEN it happens???

As a friend noted, if this is to be a development steeped in nostalgia, why stop with dirt roads...bring on the wells, outhouses and kerosene stoves.

I am wondering if anyone knows the funding mechanism to maintain these "dirt roads".  If this "experimental" development plan has a true evaluation by the Elmore County engineer as an approved development plan for Elmore County any random land owner could use an old logging road and "develop" property.

We should look into it, Witt? Nothing has been developed over there before, so we should be able to lower the costs and escape the taxes by calling it "an experiment," and letting the taxpayers foot our costs forevermore (of course, Richie would have to agree, wouldn't he?) Genius! Why don't we create an easement while we're at it? There has to be some advantage there as well, since that's what all the "big boys" are doing these days?

They can strip the roads with toilet paper and replace it after each rain!
