saw one of lake martin's canada geese this weekend with a arrow sticking through him/her. it was still associating with the flock and could fly and swim. however, it will probably have a miserable existance until it finally dies. is it illegal to shoot (and kill) canada geese? although a capture and extraction would be preferrable, it is not likely to happen. this goose can still move pretty fast.

on a positive note,i saw one of the immature bald eagles in a tall tree at our lakehouse about 2 weeks ago. had all the squirells real nervous in the yard. maybe the eagle can get the wounded goose?

A tragic story.. Maybe or maybe not legal. In the Lake Martin area,
Canada geese can be hunted Sep 27 - 30 and Nov 27 - Jan 31.

I could be wrong on this one, but I thought that Canadian Geese were considered migratory. Meaning that it would be subject to Federal game laws and not just Alabama regulations. Therefore, I do not believe it is permissible to hunt with a bow or a cross-bow. I also doubt that it was shot while in flight.

Either way it does not help the inhuman treatment of the poor creature. Yes, it will get weaker and weaker until it can not escape a fox, coyote -- etc.
