Maybe all these formerly known as Lake Lanier people should go back, the lake is still muddy. Gracious.

Just kidding of course. So, what's new on the lake:
1. Big clearing up by Oskar's - whats that all about?
2. The Harbor still looks horrible - they ever going to fix that eye sore?
3. Heard Scrushy is still buying more development property on the lake - where is that?
4. Where are good places to eat on the lake that you can get to by boat?
5. Any good places to take the kids to rope swing with just the moms (in other words we don't have to get in and help)?

Regarding the rope swing....there is one near the bridge in the Elkahatchee creek. You can anchor and let the kids swim up to the rock bank and swing till they're tired. It's kinda fun....even for this 40-or-so year old, so I usually take a swing or two myself.

I was at the lake last weekend. It looked pretty clear to me.
Where is Elkahatchee Creek? The rope swing sounds like fun!

The Elkahatchee is in the northern part of the lake, near Wind Creek State Park. You will pass a public boat ramp and then under a relatively low bridge (but not low like Blue Creek!). You just have to wind your way around up the creek...beautiful scenery, especially in the spring and fall when it's more colorful. The rope swing is all the way up near the Hwy.63 bridge. Incidentally, if you were traveling by car, south on 63 from A.C., it's the first bridge you cross. The old bridge is kind of neat from the water side.

...anyway, get out your lake map and you should be able to find it easily. Happy exploring....4Golf

What about rocks up there? How close can you park the boat? Will it be obvious to avoid the rocks or will my husband kill me?

....depends on whether or not the life insurance premiums are paid!! Not sure if your reference to rocks is related to concern for the boat or for the rope swingers. I go slowly and keep an eye on the depth gauge when approaching the rocks near the bridge....can get plenty close and keep at least 4 feet under the prop.

I actually don't know how deep the water is (at full pool) at the "landing zone" from the swing. We always have a ski vest on when we swing, which I guess keeps one from going down as far....we tell the kids to swing out as far as possible before letting go. I've never hit bottom (or rocks) myself, but I guess I make a conscious effort not to go too deep.
