Why the concern over the water level rising? Are you REALLY ready to have a full pool this time of year? Just curious...the shoreline is such a welcome change that we cherish each year but don't seem to share that emotion with many. The annual dropping of the water level is really a great blessing that makes LM a special place....we never wish for it to end any sooner than it has to. The muddy water (when rising) and the transformation period into the clear beautiful lake is a trying time!

I couldn't agree with you more (at least for this year). I have 9 deck post holes to dig this weekend on this rocky, muddy, beer can exposed, (did I mention rocky) shoreline. I see they have brought the lake up just enough these last few days to make me (a newbie) dig 3 of the holes just inside the waterline. I think they are out to get me? I will be watching to see who drives by in a boat LOL.

Do you know if they have any plans to drop the level between now and Saturday morning? If anyone in control reads this . . . . taking it back down to 479.3 would make PikeSki very happski!

It could happen but I wouldn't count on it! When I built my pier, the last 2 holes I dug were just inside the water line. As I dug, the hole would, of course, fill with water and begin to cave in around the sides. When I got the depth o.k., I got a coffee can and bailed as much of the water and mud as I could and threw the pole into the hole. I had three 80-lb bags of dry quikrete ready and dumped all 240 pounds into the hole...leveled the
pole, checked measurements...job done. It has done fine but was a lot more work and more expensive.

There was-- probably still is-- a certain segment of the lake population who were convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that the only reason the lake comminuty was seasonal was because the water was too ow for boating in the winter.

Try as you might, you couldn't convince them that school, extra-curricular activities (college football), and the weather had more to do with it than the water level. Nope, the only thing that could convince some of them was a nice, brisk boat ride on a 40-degree day! Something like that tends to turn their thinking around.

Still, there are some idiots out there who remain convinced that th elake would be as crowded in January as it is in July; if the water were only eight feet deeper.

And you critize other people about spelling. Need to check your post out, and lay off the MD20/20.

Maybe he was using the Old English spellings.

Or maybe he made a few typos; that's a far cry from the jibber-jabber that you feed us on a consistent basis, the illiterate musings that seem to come from the keyboard of an third-grade drop-out who has been spending way too much time mixing his MD 20/20 with paint thinner.

Face it, JimBonics, you don't want to get into any sort of battle when the weapons of choice include language skills, logic, and posting history.
