Is it open? I read that it was being remodeled and I was just curious if it is open for business??? We love it and have some family coming in and would love to take them to dinner there. Anyone been lately?

I just called to make reservations for this weekend, and the voicemail said they are open Wednesday through Saturday from 5:30 til 9:30 p.m. You can make reservations via voicemail and they will call back to confirm. They do a "Wine Dinner" periodically and I would encourage anyone living close by to participate in it. A group of us in Birmingham go to the John's Restaurant Wine Dinners every other month and they are great fun. Special (absolutely sublime) menus and accompanying wines. I have never been disappointed in their dinners, and when we ate at Yellowhammer, there offerings were equally as impressive. Bon appetit!

Ate dinner there Saturday night. Six people in our group -- all had spectacular meals. Not a complaint. This was our second trip and we've had great experiences both times.

It is one of the best places my Spouse and I have visted in a long time. I highly recommend ti.

I have been to some great places all over the globe, and this one is in contention for one of my best dining experiences. It is in our own back yard and near the Lake. It is in the lively little town of Waverly, Alabama. (LOL).

It is worth the experience. Don't forget the Yellowhammer is the Alabama State Bird. Here is the link:

I don't believe I've ever read a post on this forum from those that have been to The Yellowhammer that have not highly recommended it. Sorry to say, but my wife and I have never been. I'm going to put this on my long list of things we must do. By the way, was this restaurant originally "Peyton Place" or something similar in name?

but if it was in Waverly, then it must of been the same. There is not much else in Waverly.

I found the town rather interesting. Both the Baptist and Methodist Churches are beautiful. There appers to be some old slave or share cropper cabins at one end of town that are most interesting in this day in age. I only hope they are preserved. You will not often see the likes of them in many places.

It is worth the drive even if you do not dine; although it will only take you two minutes to see the entire town. Akin to Two Egg, Alabama. LOL

I highly recommend you dinning. The woderful dinning experience will set you back a little over a hundred for the two without wine. It is a bargain.

It's about a mile or two off 280 south on Waverly Parkway (just north of Veteran's Parkway). We take Hwy. 72 (Girls Ranch Road) from Walnut Hill to 280, turn right, and Waverly Pky is a very short distance on the left.

It is located in a building that was the very first Ford dealership in Alabama. Live piano during the evenings, very pleasant and unobtrusive. It's not a large restaurant, fewer than 30 tables total, last time we went. We had wine (by the glass, not a bottle) and dessert and our tab was just under $100. And, again, I urge anyone close by to attend the wine dinners... If they weren't mid-week, I'd go myself!

Great! Glad to hear they are open ! I've been a couple of times as well and it easily rallies any fine dining Birmingham has to offer (and easier on the pocketbook comparatively)..great service...wonderful food...good wines....and such atmosphere. I believe I'm correct in saying it is the building that was the original Ford Dealership in AL!! Very cool!
