Maybe sarcasm...or maybe jealousy! I do like fast, especially on the Seadoo. Two questions... does it seem that loud in the boat and does your butt hurt going over the waves?

Before you cast stones ask yourself this - is it to early to run my lawn mower ? Is this weed eater bothering my nieghbors family get together ? Should I blow off my drive rite now ? Don't lose site of the fact that we all make some noise and just because its not your noise does not make it bad noise ! the only ones that aren't making noise are up on boot hill ! As fast as we truck around the lake you only hear it for a secound or 2 and then we're gone. Mean while your nieghbor has to endure your lawn care for hours ! Maybe that house out on the point in a high traffic area wasn't such a good idea after all .

By your logic that house out there near other people's lawns wasn't a good idea either.  Mowers, blowers, dogs, face it, we are a loud people.  And a forgetful people that cannot remember one simple golden rule.

my point was tolerance. I'm very happy to live on the lake full time.I live in a very quiet nieghborhood with respectful, full time nieghbors(mostly)not much tolerance around this site except I tolerate your complaints of noise, fast boats and the weather. Not much useful information or stimulating conversation but it is good for a laff or 2 @ times.and we all can check on what kind of boat cat has put a water pump on lately,I'm just saying ! (HA)

by your logic I should sell my boat or move away?

You are off base on your tolerance of loud boats rant. State law has a specific 85db @ 50 ft limit after which the Marine Police should ticket the offender. I'm beginning to believe the MP's choose NOT to enforce any laws that pertain to the fast boat crowd. Too bad.

That law is tested in gear at idle, not under power under way. No boat on the lake will pass 86 db from 50 at full speed due to engine noise, wave slaps, etc. So the law is at idle only, open water has no real rule.

Has the Marine Police ever tested your boat with the cut outs open?

They have tested more boats than I care to remember, and you would be suprised at the amout of open exhaust boats that can pass. The only thing that the marine police ask is that if the boat has switchable exhaust that you keep them quiet as to avoid complaints. Which I dissagree with as if its legal with the exhaust open, then let it eat.

And my boat now doesnt have switchable, shes strait out with mufflers.

My boat has been inspected and is fully legal. My post was hardly a rant it was an observation(opinion)You know what they say about those? There are plenty of them here! Name and personal info not withheld.

I am not sure if I am the boat in question on this thread, could have been two of my buds as well, but the easiest way to answer the questions you have about noise and waves if to take a ride. I plan on running this weekend, so if you want to meet up, I will be glad to show you.

They do indeed enforce the law. I have a ticket in my pocket at this very moment. The 86dbl is hard to meet, but can be done. I think with the modifications I have done at this moment, I will pass next time. Hard to tell. But, trust me.... If you run around loudly you WILL get a ticket. Fortunatly, there are several companies offering different type muffler systems and most work. However, I have a good customer that just spent well over $2,000 on silencing systems that missed the mark by a mere 3dbls. He also has a ticket. I don't know what type boat you have, but if you ever get stopped by the Marine Police, have it checked. You may just be very surprised at the results. In my opinion, most would not pass if running wide open throttle on plain. But, that is just what I think. New technology is coming out constantly. My .02 worth ... Respectfully, Steve

Say it aint so! CAT got a ticket for a loud boat?
Ohh me and Oh my..... I guess the world is going to end in 2012.....

But then again. I drive classics and got a ticket myself for having classic systems....
Apparently if in 1968 it did not come with a lanyard. It needs one now.......Would kill show points in a classic boat show.

Point is try to play by the rules, not every one is going to be happy. it's a split the difference thing.
