In spite of possibly catching the wrath of a few, I would like to give an endorsement for Cactus Grill in downtown Eclectic. And the reason I do so is not because I know anyone associated with the establishment; it’s because I want them to succeed for selfish reasons. I like going there. I became aware of the place from a post on this forum and maybe someone else would appreciate the same.

They have a wide variety of food plus a small bar. It is just a neat small time bar/restaurant atmosphere serving Southwest specialties such as Fajitas and Quesadillas, plus steak, shrimp chicken, spaghetti, lasagna, etc. plus good sandwiches, including one of the best shrimp poboys this side of AJ’s in Destin. Maybe if they get enough business, they can afford to advertise on this site.

I will second the endorsement. I suspect we will enjoy lunch and dinner there on a number of occassions over the next few weeks.

There ain't much there.....just drive through town on 63 and you can't miss it. It's a couple of miles past the Do-It (on the right if you are heading south west).....just past the stop light on the right.

Was there one night when they had a 4 piece R&B band, another time a band that could play my Steely Dan requests! Imagine that, in Eclectic! Fun place on Friday and Saturday nights.

Is it appropriate to take kids there?

You could, but I would not. Have seen some there, but not many. More of an adults, small bar type place with good food. Just a four foot high wall separates the bar from restaurant. I bet someone will post that they have taken their kids there, which again is fine.

No problem for kids in the restaurant ......as for the bar, probably not the best idea.

Guess it would depend upon the parents are family. I would see no difference between kids in Sinclairs or the Cactus Grill. Agree with keeping kids out of bars and late nite party situations.

PC has a valid point about proximity of the bar, but the place has a larger dinning area than bar area (neither are nearly as large as Sinclairs).

Like stated by others, this is a good place for lunch as well as dinner. As most know, Eclectic is a clean small Southern town and appears to have a lot of local pride.

Suzy Q"s in downtown Red Hill at Castaway- Do you hope she makes it?

Of course I hope she makes it, although I haven't been there yet. I see the sign daily and hope to have lunch there soon. Any word on the menu?....... I don't eat much that comes out of a fryer, and I think PP (or possibly Mrs. PP) said the owner was trying to get more diversity.

Kids are not allowed in restaurants :-)

I believe the law reads "no children unless they agitate, bother or in some fashion irritate yankees, boors or people from Atlanta". (in most cases the clause covers all three).

Council Rock Doc should be permitted an exception since his 6 kids are pretty peaceful, despite being foreigners from Atlanta. Also, when his family frequents a restaurant in Eclectic, the whole City economy gets a good boost! LOL

I try to do my part for the local economies! BTW, how are you and Martha? Is that handicap in the single digits yet?
