Took my wife to Christopher's for our 32nd Anniversary last night. This was our second visit as we went to their Sunday brunch a few weeks ago and it was great. Per Hound's recommendation, I had the Lamb and it was excellent. My wife had the Grouper Oskar, also excellent. However, if you don't order the "Gumbo and Grits," you have missed out. This appetizer is on the Alabama list of top 100 dishes in the state. I could have had the bowl, for $8, and a salad and been totally satisfied. Also, got to meet Christopher this time and he is a great guy. I really hope they make it. Next up, their Sunday Steak and Seafood Buffet for $22.95. Crab legs, claws, grouper, mahi-mahi, shrimp, etc. Can't wait.
Disclaimer:
I have no vested interest in this establishment. I just like their food.

I'm thinking that my next trip to Christopher's is going to be the gumbo and a salad.

I'm glad the lamb didn't let you down. My only regret was that I was in a restaurant and couldn't pick up those lamb bones and gnaw them a bit. LOL.

One other note -- the chef is willing to put his signature butterscotch sauce on things other than the duck. I heard a man ordering it with his steak -- now I'm not sure that I would want it on steak (apparently it is both sweet and savory), but it might be really good on chicken, for those of us that don't necessarily do duck.

I hope they make it.

I picked mine up and gnawed on them. Can't take the "ghetto" out of me.

I'll go with you and we'll gnaw the bones together.

My wife and I celebrated our 36th annniversary at Christopher's the first week in July. The rare tuna was to die for, the atmosphere was great and the view on the water relaxing. I was concerned about being underdressed with shorts and golf shirt, but mirrored most of the gents in there. Will definately return when I can.

I too have no financial interest in the restaurant, just like to eat well and be served well.

I do not have a financial interest either, but my wife and I dined there last Wed and the tuna is the best I've had. Great service. I hope they can survive during these times.

After reading review after review, we ate at Lake Martin Oyster Bar last night and Christopher's tonight. Both measured up to previous reviews. I had wonderful crab cakes at LMOB and the Grouper Oscar at Christopher's. I'm an admitted "food snob" and these two meals sure met my approval! Hope these two establishments stay around for a long time.

Family health concerns have kept us from the lake most of summer but on those weekends we have been down have eaten at Christopher's and been very happy with food and service.
Plan to be down for football season and will definitely be back.
