You can read a copy of Waggoners substitute by going to Alison. http://alisdb.legislature.state.al.us/acas/ACASLogin.asp

Click on Bills, enter HB756, click the HB756 button, then click on amds/subs.

All of the proposed text isn't available yet, however Waggoners proposed amendment is out there already.

They haven't posted the version that finally passed. It appears that some of the Bill may apply to all lakes, where others are limited to Martin and select others.

I get an error when I click on the button. It sounded like 3 different parts and that the cigarette boats may be banned everywhere. Everyone has time to go buy a big boat or houseboat and have them grandfathered in.

First of all, I would like to thank the marina's, people, and most importantly the lake itself for the fun that we had for all of those years. I guess there is a time and place for all to grow old and enjoy a different type of fun, like sitting on the porch and yelling at things that go fast. Well now that my fun has been taken away I can grow old and decrepit. I will always remember the wonderful memories that this lake has provided me because all I have now is memories. Hopefully all of the people who we used to buy a lot of gas and other things from can weather this upcoming storm. Anyway, its time for me to sit down into my rocking chair.

Sad day on Lake Martin. What will they dislike enough next to have it banned?

What burns me the most is I will never have one tied up at my dock.

I hope everyone makes it though the hell that will follow!

Just outrageous...

Steve, i'm sorry. Sorry to everyone else this outrageous act will affect.

Do you have to sell it scarab?

I haven't seen the passed version, and i'm curious what it says about grandfathering....

I think even with grandfathering ,at some point in time they ALL have to be gone .If not now , later.

From what I read on WSFA we will have to sell the SCARABS. Probably lose our a$$. Just hope we get enough for it to buy a dam barge, a wake board boat and a 20-foot drag boat. I am going to name them inconsiderate, destroyer, and too fast. Very sad the wife and I are sick.

I think your are right autiger... before long they will take them all away. I am sure next year there will be yet another bill proposed that limits another right on the lake. If any of you were listening today, they were also attacking PWC, so it looks like those guys are next. Even though I don't particularly care for them jumping so close to the boat, they get to enjoy the lake too. Before you know it all the joys of the lake will be gone. I feel sorry for all that will have to sell or give up their "babies" in order to be able to enjoy lake Martin.

If you can't enjoy this lake and all that is still has to offer, then you have plenty of problems that have nothing to do with boats, or speed.

And if speed is the only thing that matters to you, just go somewhere else. And I don't mean that in a "go away" way; I mean that if ALL you care about is speedy boats, then why does it matter which body of water you are on? If all you care about is having a fast boat, then have a fast boat somewhere else, and you'll be just as happy, right?

Oldtimer it has nothing to do with speed. My 29 Scarab will barely run 60 mph, banned. My bass boat 75mph not banned. My jet ski 62 MPH not banned. Our 29 Scarab is not a fast boat, it is big enough to ride good, have a small cabin, a swim platform, and a padded deck. It is a very enjoyable boat that has hurt no one, banned. Now we can buy a boat with a larger cabin still not be fast, have a large swim platform, and create a monster pier crushing wake and be legal.30 foot Sea Ray with a big block. Makes no sense. Speed is not the issue. I could also buy a 26 footer that will run 110 mph LEGAL. Think about it dumb a$$.

First, it's "longtimer," not "oldtimer." I'm not old, I've just been on this lake for a long time... since I was born.

Second, I wasn't responding to you, I responded to someone else who was more direct about his love of speed. Hence, my response.

Thanks for calling me a dumba$$, though, even though you are the one who was wrong. It sheds a little more light on just what kind of people this bill hurts... and why that makes so many people happy.

Wow, I have read 2 threads now and the name-calling and personal attacks are disgusting. As I said on the other thread, I started off neutral on this issue but miller and others have convinced me this bill maybe good.

Now just a take a sip of this Kool-Aide... lol. You see the other has a 'pack' metallity, so they figure everybody must. Now some are starting to see why I favored the Bill. It is all about ATTITUDE!! I know some 'big boaters'. Most are fine folks, but the few that arent more than make up for the good ones.

Once again, a representative of the "go fast" crowd shows us all what we can expect from his ilk when push comes to shove.

Normally, I would say that "it's not YOU we wanted gone, it's just your boats." But in cases like this, where we have a daddy's-boy punk with anger-management issues and a violent streak, I think it's safe to say that we want your boat gone... and YOU gone with it. (Your friends can stay... if they can learn to play nice.)

I do have empathy with the nice guys, like Cat , who could not have envisioned this. Cat seems to be an extremely courteous boater and his very livelyhood could be adversely affected. But people like Baja make it difficult, with his type of attitude, to identify with their stance.
