Sadly, yesterday I took my boat and jet skis out of the water for winterization......sigh....deep sigh......sob....

I and a friend did manage to spend 45 minutes on the jet skis before loading them up on the trailer. I felt we needed to give them one more good run before winterizing (at least that was what I rationalized to my wife)......the water is perfect, cool but tolerable, the weather was gorgeous...only fishing boats and a couple of pontoon boats were out. I'm sure we broke up their solitude a bit.

A truly sad day each year but I thank God for the great gift to be able to spend a portion of my summers on Lake Martin. We are truly blessed even if we sometimes don't appreciate it as we should.

So true! We will be bringing our boat and jet ski home next weekend. It will be a sad drive back to Fayetteville. I will, once again, feel the need to invent fun things for the kids to do for the weekends we come down. We love the cold months at the lake, but our little ones get bored quickly without a plan.

We live in PTC. Try bonfires and roasted marshmellows. Old movies and board games in front of a warm fire is terrific too. We also spend the time collecting trash from islands.....yes there is trash. The winter monthscan be beautiful!!!!!

That's the ticket. I'll be able to get on the water at least one more time and then I'll go into Winter-time mode. It's generally much quieter and peacefull except when we stirr things up on Alabama vs Tennessee weekend. Llike you have noted...bon fire, horseshoes on the beach, football in the yard, croquet and walks on the shore. We have baseball and football ...and then football and basketball and shore/pier maintenance and then we'll back on the water. Great cycle. Some of my family also lives in PTC. They helped establish our place back in 1963.

When the big boats and jetskis go into hibernation, my happy days are just beginning. Sometimes a jonboat is the only way to go.
