Pleasure Point Problem is much like the illegal alien problem. The residents there enjoy the privileges of being lake residents illegally without paying their dues. There are many on this forum who feel sorry for them. I wonder if the same people feel sorry and want to make accommodations for the illegal aliens. The answer I am sure is no. And It will remain no until Fox News tells them otherwise.

Those people are living in many structures that were not designed to be permanent residents and have third world sanitation. They need to pony up for real homes with real sanitation facilities. What they have is polluting the lake and the land around them and putting themselves and others at an unreasonable risk of harm. APCO is the fence at the border and is trying to get rid of the problem. But forum members want to blame APCO and RL for the problem.

Even Catherine would not be able to come up with a viable reason why it is RL's fault.

Its the "old lady" and the residents. They new what they were doing was wrong, they did not and do not want to pay the price to do the right thing and they should be evicted and "punished for it". Punishment is the next shoe that is going to fall if they keep this up.

All of the lake resident and users who are doing the right thing are paying a price in life quality as long as this continues to happen.

Some say that APCO should "fix" the problem. That is insane. They did not create it, they are the victims, because they will now have to do something about the waste situation on the land.

At the end of the day that means that anyone who buys power from APCO or any other provider that buys power from APCO will pay the cost of what those people have done illegally. APCO get rate increase as their costs increase. They are permitted by the PSC to make a certain rate of return on their investment. Cleaning up this mess is going to be considered an "investment" or cost of doing business and will add to the rate base.

At the end of the day it appears that this situation came to light when the PP residents got into a feud with each other about the stench and began turning each other in to the county health authorities and to aden. Go down and look at the records and you will find this to be true.

The "old lady" is just a "coyote" and the people that support her and the illegal sewage dumpers are just a bunch of "snake heads"

You are correct. This is not a Russell Lands problem, and at this point, they have no culpability whatsoever that I or anyone I know can point to. I am aware of nothing that they have planned, and don't think they're interested in PP in the least.

And I agree that, while it certainly is a shame what is happening to the folks at Pleasure Point, it is APCO's right to manage their land however they choose within legal limits, and everything they are doing is within those limits. I'm not even sure any of the residents will have legal claims against anyone, unless the lease holder misrepresented the lease she holds to them prior to signing their agreements. They certainly will have no claim, and no way to claim against APCO.

In a nutshell, a lot of people are going to lose a lot of money because they made a risky business deal and lost. That sucks. But when you take risks, you occasionally lose. Absorb the loses as best you can, and move on. While it isn't a good thing for anyone, it isn't illegal, nor does it create civil liability on behalf of APCO.

And I HATE the fact that all those illegal immigrants are being forced to live in deplorable conditions here in the US. It has to end, soon. Find out where they are, hunt them down, and kill them all. No one should be forced to endure the misery they face each day.

Just ask the people who own on or around Lake Hartwell (SC and Ga borders) how they regard pollution law enforcement. For those that do not know, that lake was damaged by one individual that owned a power transformer reclamation business on a creek that fed into the lake. Those PCB's (yes, likely to cause cancer) he was supposed to properly dispose of were flushed down that creek. There are days when there is a ban on bottom feeding fish (like all the time), all fish (some times, and no swimming, diving, skiing (some times).
So h*ll yeah, I am in favor of strict enforcement. Sorry for those that played it straight and lost because of the actions or inactions of others. For those that gamed the system, I have no sympathy for. They are not Lake people as we would define ourselves, but would if left alone not give a fig for our interests in this Lake.

I wonder if those who covered up, failed to repair etc septic systems could be charged with a criminal act? What does the Protected Lake as designated by Gov Riley do about this?

I think anyone who felt sorry for the residents of PP did not know the full story-- I, for instance, had no idea of the level of sanitation problems PP has created. It sounds awful and we certainly don't want our lake polluted. I know I would not want it anywhere near me. SO if APCO is shutting it down because of egregious sanitation problems…I think all of us would agree we ave no problem with it.

You I hate people that comment about things they know nothing about. In the first place the sewer was not dubbing in the lake. Some of these people have been here over 27 yrs and never had a problem . Why should they be punished?

Apparently we found a RL employee. I am dead set against illegal immigrants but to compare these folks to them is about the most offensive thing I've seen lately. DISGUSTING! I guess by your thinking Wind Creek should be shut down along with all public ramps. I mean, by God, how dare that riff raff dare to portend to use your lake. You, sir are a disgusting waste of oxygen. Feb is that you? Come on old buddy, you can tell us. So flag me. Start a new ban lifer movement. I don't care. That's the way I feel and I'm sure I am not alone in my sentiments. Just alone in the balls to state it.

i will not let my $ 80,000 i just invested in the lake house just fade away , there are people who all own all of there homes outright , you make judgement on the renters there but there are no different than the person across the lake who ownes a $ 700,000 home on leased land or should i say the bank owns , almost every one in pleasure point owns there houses or trailers out right and they paid 10 times the true value for the camper/trailer/home because of the view and for nothing else , if there is a problem with the pleasure point area well as a community it can be fixed together ,by taking the funds from the escrow account within 2 years the park could have a 100% turn around ,

i first logged on to this site today and i am shocked at the heartless statements of people who live in the house that the bank owns and they look down on people who has taken there whole life savings and purchased a over priced trailer on a buitifull lake and there only crime is they pay way to much and get nothing in return ,

the lake martin community should come together to support the pleasure point residents because they could be you if alabama power one needs your land , and apco uses a clause in a lease that states they do not have to renew the lease to you because of inverimental reason which cannot be prooven yet ...

again understand these residents are no illigal alians they are you parents , aunts , uncles , brother , sister , kids who just want to enjoy life as you do they pay there rent just like you do they pay there taxes just like you do well hell they are you .

Your comments about the residents in PP are way off base, and I say that as a homeowner in a Russell neighborhood. The folks I know in Pleasure Point are good people that knew nothing of these problems.

You are, of course, right Whitebass. You do deserve better than what you are getting if what you say is true. You are also right we should all shut up because the majority of us do not know the story. You live there and you know whats happening. I will be praying that something gives and everyone there avoids heartbreak. The "lady" running the show should be ashamed. I think most people support a real resolution for the people that live there. In fact when it first came up everyone was pretty livid that it could be even considered given the upheaval to people's life. Fight and Hang in there.

I've been reading all these comments about Pleasure Point and I have to say that a whole lot of you are weighing in on something you know absolutely nothing about. I'm sorry, but until you know all the facts, please don't speculate.

Whitebass and a couple of other people seem to be the only ones who have a clue because they actually own a place there as do my in-laws, who btw spent a whole lot of money to have their septic done correctly when they moved in.

The residents pay lease fees to someone who hasn't been taking care of the park with all the money she's been making off her tenants.

So, before you start pointing fingers about these "renters" and people who don't own their land and aren't paying their dues regarding the lake, maybe you should find out some facts. Not everyone can afford a half million dollar place on the lake, nor do they want to and just because you can doesn't make you any better. And to anyone who says that these people deserve whatever happens ~ better watch out for KARMA because it's a b****!
