Nancy Pelosi for the failed vote because of the partisian speech she made. They had done a test vote and they had the votes. Pelosi openned her butt ugly plastic surgery mouth and tanked the whole thing. Every member of congress is up for reelection .... I know it will not happen, but wouldn't it be great if we did not have to listen or look at that liberal biotch again.

Now, that is really pathetic that Republicas will let Nancy Palosi control them. I would be embarrasses to admit I hid under Nancy's skirt so I could vote NO. You continue to support a ticket that is tanking real fast. Calling Pelosi a biotch shows real class. Maybe we need to refer to Sexy Sarah as that Hot Mooosehunting Biotch!!!!!! Now call me stupid or so other 8th grade name.

people who based their vote on what she said instead of what needed to be done and what was best for the country.

Is saying "Take that, Nancy!" really more important than saving the economy?

I find it beyond conceivable that any of you liberals have the nerve to blame Republicans for this failure. The fact is Democrats control Congress. They didn't need ONE Republican vote to pass this and had it passed the President would have signed it into law. 95 DEMOCRATS VOTED NO!!!!! 65 Republicans voted for the measure. CAN YOU EXPLAIN THAT?

As for the allegation that they voted no just because of Pelosi's speech that is apparently not the case. Her speech incensed a lot of people and simply confirmed for them that their no vote was right. As for having the votes I have seen interviews with Boehner (Rep Minority Leader) and Hoyer (Dem Majority Leader) and both said they knew it was going to be a close vote. That clearly contradicts the alleged "we had the votes" statement.

She is an unmitigated idiot to attack the President and his failed policies and his never having gotten one thing right and then turn around and ask the members to vote with a President she just slammed. It is the most ridiculous, stupid thing I have seen. Boehner and Hoyer both gave nice bipartisan speeches before the idiot Pelosi screwed this all up.

You liberals need to take something to allow you to see truth through the fog of partisanship.

Your response did just fine to prove it ... don't have to say anything, you did just fine on your own.

LEADERSHIP!! If Pelosi had been able to convince all the Democrats from her home state (California) to vote for this bill the Yes votes would have increased by 15 and the bill would have passed 220-213. Had Obama been able to deliver all the Democrats from his home state (Illinois) the yes vote would have increased by 4 more; had McCain been able to deliver the Republican votea from his home state (Arizona) the yes vote would have increased by 4 more - TOTAL YES 228 NO 205. If all three had been able to "work across the aisle" and deliver the other party's votes from their home states the Yes votes would have increased another 18 votes and it would not have been close. GO FIGURE!!!!!!

and I listened to some of the liberal dems that voted no. They want more of the same. How are we going to be sure "affordable" mortgages are available to low income people. Also ... we should be bailing out the people that can't pay their mortages so they do not lose their homes.

These people are nuts.

TV said that among democrats voting NO was most of the Black Caucus. Seems they're mad because ACORN and other Obama friends won't get the $20 Billion (Newt's numbers) promised them by the democrats.

Sounds about right that the liberals in Congress are more interested in feeding the trough of criminal organizations like ACORN than solving this crisis. The sad reality is all this inures to the benefit of Obama.

While I think what Pelosi said was irresponsible and she should be fired for it; I don't believe that Republicans didn't vote for the bill because of what she said. I think there are a lot of fiscally conservative Republicans who don't like the bailout.
On one of the news shows this morning (can't remember if it was CNBC or MSNBC or CNN) they said that the number of emails and phone calls to the Hill by their constituites was overwhelmingly against the buyout. The "Main Street" attitude is why bail out people who screwed up so badly?

I think the most sobering thing is realizing that there is a total lack of leadership by either party. And where are the Presidential "would be's" -- I don't see either one of them stepping into a leadership role. It's sad and kinda frightening. I've seen them be absolute pit bulls on constituites issues that are inconsequential to the overall health of the US -- but they have suddenly turned into poodles.

And yet another point we agree on. Just can't vote for B.O. though.
