On this date a charitable event occurred at the Kowliga area. While approaching the area at idle our boat struck a submerged anchor bouy (white ball w/blue stripe) and incurred prop damage. On discussion with other surrounding boaters we were informed we were not first to hit this object. We then turned around, removed the submerged bouy and flagged marine police (aware of the hazard), advised MP our ID. Summary is, we have your bouy and prop damage. Call to claim.

I have seen those around the rock, almost hit a couple myself. I wondered if it was legal to plant those where ever one wanted. Did the MP have a comment in regard to the legality. I thought they would remove such a hazard if they were aware of it.

I am sorry you incurred damage. I guess I will remove such hazards when I see them in the future.

I'm guessing the owner will probably not respond?

They knew about it, but hadn't had it removed or marked? Nice. Perhaps a phone call instead of that one extra stop of someone boating dangerously while standing at the helm might have been in order?

F1...your making too much sense. Removing a dangerous obstacle would require alot of effort and who would you intimidate during the process. I am sure some posters will tell us how removing dangerous obstacle in the water is not in the "serve and protect" clause...stopping those dangerous "standers" is however...

..about it remove it before yet another hit it.?

Get a knife...cut the cord.

Ain't hard.

I'd be pissed if others knew and just let it go.

Can't tell you how many times I've been cruising around and removed stuff from the water...just so someone else won't hit it.

Mercy me...shoulda called the marine police.

The Marine Police was aware of the hazard, but did nothing about it? How many times have I read on this forum that the MP's took up someone's anchor buoy within days of placing it? If they knew about it and didn't take it up, then they were neglecting their duty since they are usually so prompt with other buoys.

We were out there for a good while between storms and saw the bouys but there was always a boat hooked to them. I figured they were put there by the event sponsors.

We saw them and assumed they belonged to the boats that attached to them . After the storm, we saw one floating by the bridge. It had moved quite a distance. We puled it up only to find that it had an anchor on it. We put it back in the water because it did not belong to us and it had an anchor attached. We assumed the owner would come back for it. We also assumed that this belonged to the event. Sorry for your damage.
