I would appreciate advice on getting rid of a few things--primarily an old lawnmower and an old bar be cue grill.

I don't live on lake full time but have been here many, many years. While I would think that I woud have heard of where /how to dispose of "stuff", I have not! It would be a GREAT bonus to know if someone will come and pick up since I do not have a truck.

All replies very appreciated!

I don't know why someone doesn't start an 800-Got Junk franchise here. Living in other places, I have used them many times.  They chargeby the amount of truck space used.  They come in, you point to what you want gone and they load it.  I have a feeling they would be very busy here.

I agree, so far we have not found a good place to discard our "junk". Our house is in the 35010 zip code, and we tried to take some old stuff, metal, and roofing supplies to the Alexander City dump, and they let us "this time" but told us that really we needed to live in the city limits to discard our stuff there. They did not have a solution either.

Tallapoosa County places 5 big dumpsters around the county for a couple of days each quarter in different locations each time.  I think I saw a notice that this Monday and Tuesday are the days.  Call Tal. County Engineer’s office...they can tell you where each dumpster is.  Elmore and Coosa County dumpers will be shot on site!!!!

Hodja, you know that one person's junk is another person's treasure.  If left to his own judgment, I have a feeling my spouse would get rid of a lot of things - both the road runs both ways.

In my experience putting those two things or a couple chairs, etc. out by the road will see it gone in under 2 days. I've had junk like that picked up before I've walked all the way back down the driveway.

If not, you can always go to second options after.

Read the article again and you will see the word resident where only residents can dump.
