Anybody have any thoughts on an 2001 Evinrude 200hp 2 stroke outboard? A friend of mine is thinking about buying a 2002 Hurricane deck boat with one of these on it. It only has 70 hrs on the motor. Any mechanic types out there with an opinion on this? Thanks.

VERY VERY thirsty!!!!! I had a 90 and it drank more than I did....and that is alot. Now try just about doubling it!!!!!

I had a 1995 200 HP Johnson on a 23' center console and I was very happy with it. It had about 300 hours on it when I got it. I never had a problem with it. I owned it for 5 years and did all the maintenance myself. Your Envinrude motor is the same motor as my 95 Johnson. It was very good on gas. I would run it between 3200 and 3500 rpm. Now if your not an intelligent person and run it wide open all the time (4500-5000 rpm) the it will suck gas. In my opinion it is a very good motor as long as it is not the FICHT fuel injection. If it is this type do not buy the boat. These motors have a history off catching fire.
