"Dead or Alive".  I am about 3/4 the way through it and I'm wondering what other people think about it.

While it is interesting, I'm finding the switching back and forth to the various players, somewhat confusing.  Particularly all those Russian scenes.

Otherwise, is it good?  That book is next on my list.  I've noticed in some of his earlier books he jumps around.  But usually are very good reads.

Yes, it's a good story.  I have a feeling there is going to be a climatic ending.

Have read most of his stuff..  he does tend to compete with spagetti westerns in the number of characters.. .  never theless he writes thoughtful and well researched stuff..  As for the climatic ending, I can only hope, after  family and friends, whom I dearly love,  have left after a holiday day weekend..  Have only one vote on this one but might get lucky..

Is it a true Clancy novel or written with someone else?  I kond of stopped reading his stuff when he started collaborating.  Just didnt seem as good.  I am in the middle of a bio of Harry Truman and then have a long bio of Robert E. Lee.  Not much time for fiction but let me know if the ending was good and I may take a diversion.

Now there is an interesting pol worth reading.  Can't help but wonder if Truman was around today how he'd do.
Been reading some about Barry Goldwater.  Amazed at what I did not know about him.

-I was, still am, a Tom Clancy fan. However, this latest book isn't real Clancy. I'm sure he probably came up with most of teh plot, but he let the ghostwriter/collaborater write it. -This ghost writer is good in his own skin, ...and as a ghostwriter has made money for Cussler (another author I liked) ghostwriting Cussler's last book(s). Clancy probably likes the idea of picking up another couple hundred grand for a few collaberation sessions. -Sad, but I think Clancy has lost it....probably not lost the skill to write, ...just the will to write!

It's McCullough's book about Truman and it is very interesting.  As for how he would be today, Truman would be marching with Obama/Reid/Pelosi, albeit in an honest and straight forward way.  But he was a dedicated New Dealer.  Despite being wrong on his political views he had a lot of characteristics missing in most politicians today.  Still a very good read.

One interesting fact, while as Roosevelt's VP he lived in a 2 bedroom apartment on Connecticut Avenue with his mother in law and had no Secret Service detail, at least initially.  After he was sworn into office as President when Roosevelt died he went home to his apartment.  They said the busiest phone in DC at the time was his apartment building because when they found out he was now the President people were calling to get his apartment.  Typical inside the beltway lore....

I finished the Tom Clancy last night.  Very contrived ending.   I wouldn't necessarily recommend it.

The Truman book sounds interesting.  I'm getting ready to start "Unbroken".

I wasn't sure I would like it, but everyone who has read it has only good things to say about it.

Just got it on my ipad......Robert E. Lee may have to wait for this book but this bio was written 75 years ago so it can wait.  It looks really good.

History has a way of being both boring and exciting.  Had to be out of school before I realized that.  Methinks one has to have a degree in boring to write history text books.

I just discovered Tami Hoag (never thought I would really like a female novelist, but she rocks.)   Have been doing Frederic Forsythe for a while, and a little Ann Coulter between sudoku puzzles on the commode.. who ever said this conservative Cornhusker is not well read??

I don't let politics interfere with my reading of a good fiction.  The latest Stephen King is really quite good.  And I have no idea about his politics, nor do I care.
