3.8 x 10^10 divided by 1.4 X 10^12  equals  2.714 percent  NOT EVEN A DENT. 

$38,000,000,000 / $1,400,000,000,000 = 0.0214

By the way, most calculators will not let you put a number like 1,400,000,000,000 in them.  So you have to use the scientific notation as I did in the first line. (Hound, do you know how to work in scientific notation? I’m sure Fishy doesn’t.  I’m sure Pelosi doesn’t.)

2.7%... Congress has “saved” less than the interest on our debt this year.  This is how people get into trouble with their credit cards.  But, our Congress and President don’t seem to see it that way.

But then, using a HP calculator requires the use of reverse polish notation… a tough transition for most folks.  (Fishy, that IS NOT Ron Jaworski singing the National Anthem backwards.)

The national debt has just moved out of the range of the vast majority of American (made in China) calculators.  AH!  IT IS A CONSPIRACY!

Spot on Hound!

I scribble venom in red ink on those Republican Party requests for donations (that come poorly disguised as “surveys”).  I send poison darts to SEN King-of-Pork Shelby via the “contact your senator” website.  He has no clue from where the money comes.  His defense is that “we’re doing it anyway, so I make sure Alabama gets its share.”  He will not get my puny little vote in the next primary in which he runs.   Shelby is one of the old white men who got us into this debacle.
