Killed in action the week before, the body of Staff Sergeant First Class John C. Beale was returned to Falcon Field in Peachtree City , Georgia , just south of Atlanta , on June 11, 2009 . The Henry County Police Department escorted the procession to the funeral home in McDonough , Georgia . A simple notice in local papers indicated the road route to be taken and the approximate time. We are led to believe that most Americans outside the immediate military family no longer respect and honor the men and women who wear the American uniform..let this be seen far and wide that there are numerous places in this great country where the local citizens still recognize the courage and sacrifice our soldiers make..this area of Georgia is one such place.

The link below is a short travelogue of that day's remarkable and painful journey.

Thanks for sharing.

Hope you don't mind that I sent a copy to my brother in Florida, a Vietnam veteran. It is a shame that his peers received few such tributes. I am glad we are not repeating this with current Middle East veterans.
