I know we all complain about the costs of cable TV - yet another increase from ComLink. 

The bill notice says, "Due to a large increase in programming cost (especially sports channels) Com-Link has no alternative but to raise our basic rates by $5.00 per month.  Also our surcharge will increase by $1.00."  I called and they said it's only on those of us using the basic service. 

For those using a digital antenna, what channels can you get?

I tried a digital antenna I bought at Best Buy, not the most expensive but the $100 kind.  I got nothing, no channels at all.  I was very careful opening the package because I felt like I was going to have to return it.  I did with no problem.

 Depending on location, you may receive numerous antenna channels.  Before digital and the last big hurricane remnant to blow through, I had a 75 foot antenna tower  over near Real Island that routinely picked up from Dothan to B'ham, to ATL & Columbus with the twist of a rotor.

Since the digital era and the destruction of my tower, I have tried numerous options but the best is a little round antenna from Radio Shack( about $75 3-4 years ago). Unfortunately it is on an outisde 25 foot pole at the bottom of the hill. Depending on time of day (early morning  Channel 2 & 11 from ATL, ) all day Channel 3 from Columbus, Channel 20 Montgomery, 2 GPB and 1 APB channel, occasionally Channel 8 Selma/Montgomery. Of course each of these sites has 2 or 3 sub channels.  For some reason, channel 12 in Montgomery does not come in any time.

As a WHO( week-end and holidays only) neither I nor the dog come to the lake to watch TV so we don't care, but the wife and son can't live without their daily fix. Probably explains why me and the dog frequently come alone.

Since the April increase above, now another increase of $2.00 per month!  Just received my bill and the notice is on it.  I want to cancel the service but the wife must have her fix.  Not sure how much more, if any, I can take.
