I have a 22 ft tritoon w/a 2005 Mercury Optimax 150. Anyone know what miles per hour i should be getting. I was hitting around 35 but thought i should be getting more...35 is plenty for me..just thought I would get more.

Also, I get some sort of oil lubricant (dont think it is engine oil) that comes out from under the botton of the cowling(not the engine cover that comes off..but the portion just under the exhaust. It drips out as the bobs up and down in the water or if I run my finger along it..i get a thick coating as well. Any ideas what that would be?..is that normal?

I think you might want to post your questions down on the Boat Maintenance section of the Forum. You may get more responses there from the experts.

I am not an expert, but I would also think you would get closer to 45 or 50 MPH. My 22 ft. + pontoon gets over 40 MPH with a Yamaha 150.

Sorry, I just noticed your is a toon also. I would say around 40 MPH. A tune up might help your speed a bit.

Good point. Mine is a new boat. What is the best way to clean? I plan on using a pressure washer this fall on the toons.

I may change my approach after hearing answers.

FEB, a real astute poster posted this comment: "I think you might want to post your questions down on the Boat Maintenance section of the Forum. You may get more responses there from the experts."

I would suggest the same to you and I bet you will get some responses to your maintainance question on cleaning the pontoons.

Anchor Don suggested earlier to clean it when you pull it out before it dries.

Yeah, I should take my own advice. LOL

But since it was posted here, I thought I would take advantage.
