Cat, Pulled my boat from storage this year and found the Trim Gauge Needle Stuck in full up position. I check the wiring to the gauge and it looks good. Before ordering a new gauge, where should I check next? Does the gauge get the reading from the throttle control trim control, or is there a sensor on the motor? It's a Yamaha 150 outboard. Thanks for any help. Steve

I am not sure where the sensor is located on a Yamaha OB. If I were to guess, I would look at the rotation/trim pin at the back of the engine? I'll do some research.

I have a Yamaha 150 HPDI and it has the same problem. I found the sensor on the motor and checked it with an ohm meter and it was ok. I found a lever that rides on the sensor broken, its made of plastic. Went to the Yamaha place to get a new one and got an upgraded metal one from them. have not replaced yet. It is real hard to see the sensor up under the motor.

Hope this helps

Thank you so much, can you give me any more detail on the exact location of the sensor? May pull up on a sandbar today and wade in the cold water to find it.

Follow the wires- tucked up between the two piston arms I believe.
