The Alexnder Outlook has reported that the Alabama Department of Transportation, Russell Lands and Alexander City are linking up for a multi-million dollar road reconstruction project along Alabama 63 to spur long-term development in the area.

all the road needs is 2 or 3 passing lanes so one can get around the traffic that likes to travel the road at 40 mph

is all you're going to get is a detour through the new Russell conplex.

In other words, Russell Lands wants the Alabama taxpayers to foot the bill for access roads to their planned communities. Give me a break.

There are far worse detours and you all know that curve has been a hazard for a long time!

Bingo! Hit the nail on the head. I've lived elsewhere where my property was given a special assessment when they widened the road as it "improved" the value of my land.

State DOT says highway projects will probably be reduced because of less assistance from the Federal gas tax revenue. Projects are in jeopardy as the State will be receiving less funds. The highway projects website shows nothing for a Highway 63 project.

I had heard long ago when the Russell Crossroads project was being planned by the Russell Lands Corp.that they were going to straighten out the curve and re route the highway on their own NICKLE. This seemed to me to be too big to be true so now we learn there is a three way participation?????? Huh
