Want something to paddle around with the kids when the water is smooth. Any suggestions?

Kayaks are all the rage nowadays. We have 2 of them and they're great.

Canoes you can get 2-4 people in, so are a bit more of a "family" vessel imo.

Really depends on your personal preferences.  Canoes keep you out of the water and dry, unless you roll it of course.  With kayaks, either the sit in kind or sit on top, you will get wet.  We have both and our kids clearly prefer the kayak but will use both.

I just bought a 12 foot "Nucanoe" brand sit on top kayak from Coosa River Adventures in Wetumpka. It seats me and a kid easily. They sell tons of used ones.

Another thought is to rent one and try it out. Lake Martin Blooms at Bait at the corner of hwy 63 and 229 rent them.

We got a great two-person one at the Atlanta Boat Show.  Grandkids love it.  However, it is heavier than we thought and is a chore to drag down to the water. It is a two person job and still heavy.

Seeing your discussion, I have a kayak I would consider selling for $400.

14 feet long / adjustable one or two seats / two high quality wood adjustable paddles / cover / attachable wheels for one end.

If interested, please e-mail me.
