Forget the value they put on the vehicle. They charged me $89 just for having a vehicle tagged in the county. That's not smart since other counties are much less. Local folks just tag their vehicles in cheaper counties where they own property so Tallapoosa doesn't get anything on them. I'm going to do the same thing.

Surprising! Moved full time to the Lake (Tallapoosa Co.) in 2007 from the “Over the Mountain” area in Birmingham. Vehicle tags and property taxes were considerably less in Tallapoosa County.

Reduced tax revenues all around!! I'm bracing myself for this year's property tax bill for the lake. It is already way higher than in B'Ham.
