ill keep it short, that place should be shut down. they constantly serve rancid overpriced entrees. what a shame. a bunch teenies running the place with rude, defensive managers. who owns the dump? it is a health hazard. sat nite i was accosted by a manager when i sent my food back. third time this has happened in 5 years. no accountability. a true joke!!!! never4 again for me!

i have never had worse food or more rude (3) managers in my life. the number 1 worst restaurant on the lake or the southeast for that matter

that people continue to patronize this place. I gave up on this place well over three years ago. Many of our friends have also done so. Sinclairs is 5 minutes from us but we drive to Blue Creeks and trade with Oscars (1st) Niffers(2nd) and Judy's (3rd).
If only someone could/would open a full service cafe on the Kowaliga side they would mop up.

Let me start this off by saying I am not a person POLAR talked to, however to say he was accosted by a manager is ludacris. This poster at more than half of the entree he was served before having it sent back, which was offered to be fixed, but he insisted it not be and started cursing in the lobby right in front of children waiting for a table. He proceeded to call up asking for @%^^#$^%@$%@ Manager and being absoutly insane. There is one thing if a restaurant prepares somehing poorly and it is replaced, but there is a completely different opinion on a person when he goes on a rampage bashing the manager and using curse words infront of little children. I had my 3 kids in the lobby when this guy was being dealt with and the manager had to apologize to me for it happening. Next time before posting on this site about what the so called manager said to you, maybe you should have looked in the mirror and seen how you behaved. I am sorry for that, but in reality you are the one that was acting like a child.

Hummm - As the old saying goes there are always 2 sides to every story and I seem to believe rslapshot7 side of this story in terms of POALR rampage.

Not saying food or service is good at Sinclair's as have had both good and bad food/service and have to agree with POLAR that Sinclair's prices are rather inflated. But almost worth the price to sit outside on a beautiful evening and enjoy the serenity of Lake Martin.

I myself have had a bad experience there as well, but that is going to happen with a lot of restaurants that have staff coming and leaving as frequently as a seasonal resaurant does. I will say that for every 20 good times there is a mediocre time and maybe one time where the food was bad out of every 40.... however that is not always the restaurants fault. The managers are there to make sure its alright and will do everything in their power to make the patron happy, This means comping a meal if it is reasonable, and not to the owners taste, this means anything on the menu. I will say, that I myself had the catfish on saturday and it was subpar for them, but that could be the distributor giving them sub-par fish which maybe they should not have sold. However, this does not mean a poster should bash the restaurant with foul language in the lobby,

Regarding the prices. I feel that the prices in general are very fair. I feel the appetizers might be a touch high, especially the shrimp cocktail, however for all of the entrees i feel the prices are more than fair. You receiver a nice side ROMAINE salad, better than the iceberg i get at a lot of other places, and a choice of a side.

The other thing is, a place like this has to pay the high rent for a restaurant on the lake yearround even though the business is only really strong in the summer months. This is a burden on a place of this type. I have dinned at all of the places around the lake, and really enjoy sitting out on the decks having a nice meal at Sinclairs.

But at least it is there. Until someone opens a legitimate competitor we have to take it or leave it.

I've never been "wowed" by the service, food, or prices, but neither have I experienced unsatisfactory food or service, and the prices don't change. There really is something to say about sitting on the porch, sipping a Bloody Mary, and watching time and the boats go by.

And yes, I would like to see the old Cecil's back the way it used to be, but if my last trip to Cecil's in Alex City is any indicator, I don't want it back. Awful service, awful food.

I agree.....looks like Rob doesn't care any more about making a fool of himself in person than he does on the forum.

Nothing is perfect including people. It always seems that the loudest noise comes from an imperfect source. Decency and kindness deals with problems in a much different manor. Not judging, I have had varied meals there to but as always, bees are attracted to the sweet smells, not the nasty ones. When one looses their temper, they are the automatic looser.

I am always amazed at people who complain yet continue to subject themselves to the same establishment. I eat at Sinclair's about 4 times a year and I am not overly impressed with their food or service but, I know what I'm getting going in and the ambience on the deck certainly accounts for something. It's very simple, if you don 't like it, don't go.

We are lucky to have Sinclairs. The service and food vary from time to time but the location is superb, the staff is nice, and the view is stupendous.

Also, I never had a bad bloody mary there.

can agree that Sinclair's is way below par and there is nothing that will change about it. Doesn't matter if it is the peak of summer or middle of winter. Johnny and the fellas are just doing what they can to make a dollar with the place. The atmosphere is by far the best on the lake of all the places to eat and the drinks are always stout and cold. The food on the other hand is always questionable so if you can allow yourself to take a little advice.....just keep it simple when you go and eat a burger, chicken sandwhich or the Poboy. They usually can keep the burger juicy and the chicken not too dry and the poboy usually has a good bit of shrimp on it. You know what your getting when going so when you go and order some elaborate entree and it is junk.....you have yourself to blame. As far as the poster loosing his temper and causing a scene in front of children....that is just classless and he can do it 100 times over and nothing will change about the food or service. So know what your getting into when you go....and if it is better than expected that is always a plus.

let me start by saying, when i sent the food back everything was fine. my salad dressing had the consistency of water and was warm, ate a few bites and got over it. catfish arrives, 1 piece, I took three bites, sorry it cost 15 bucks and i was hungry. it was tough, overcooked, and extremely greasy. still no problem, i got over it. lets move on to the "grilled vegetables". i put 1 broccoli in my mouth and immediately removed it. tasted raw as if it had been in the fridge for a week. i politey aired my problems with our waitress. she took the food and returned to say they would bring me another plate, no thanks! i never even asked for my money back. manager shows up with a **** eating grin on his face and with a chuckle says "you dont have to pay for this, but you ate half of it(not true) and no one has EVER complained about the catfish, it is one of our most popular dishes". the conversation went down hill from there. i truly apologize for my language in the lobby, i did not notice any small children. i was angry, and this is the third time i have had this happen. yes, its my fault for going back, but the place has such great atmosphere and location you cant help but keep giving it the benefit of the doubt--no more. In closing, as I said I was not even upset or asking for a free meal. the attitude of the manager proved an unfortunate scene and i apologize again for the language in the prescence children.

Well said my friend. I personally know the owners and they are good folks. This is not a perfect world we live in. I was a cook in the Navy and I was always amazed that the people who complained the most were always first in line.Sounds as though that the post that started this whole thread is a negative type ...I call them The Fellowship of The Miserable. nuff said !

OK CATBOAT....I'm now going to be an "expert" on Sinclairs. Agree with most everyone - go to Sinclair's for lake views and drinks. Fried food is always good. Enjoy going there 3/4 times a year. Will be interested to see what Springhouse Restaurant has to offer - I understand will be offspring of HotNHot Fish Club from Birmingham. Can say they have great shrimp and grits. I hope everyone has a good weekend. I'm hoping it is cold enough to have a fire in my fireplace.

I have to say my family ate there on Thursday Night and we were very unhappy with the food. Usually it is just the service that is bad, this night it was the food. My kid's shrimp and french fries were fried in OLD, BURNT grease and their food was not edible. I did not know you could screw up fried food that bad. My husband and I had steaks. For the first time in our lives, we had to use steak sauce. The steaks had NO taste whatsoever! We won't be back anytime soon.
