That is good news. Wolf Blitzer says he was killed in or near a mansion in Pakistan, and body has been brought to Afghanistan.

What I heard was he was "hiding in plain sight" in a million dollar compound in Pakistan. 35 Miles from Islamabad. Burial at sea? We're not going to allow them to give him a "proper" Muslim burial. The ultimate insult. Thank God for that. Pakistan has a lot to answer for. We finally got smart and kept them out of the loop. It was heartwarming to see the celebrations last night. Clearly people have not forgotten.

I am hoping it was a melon shot from a Barrett M107.  I am hoping that there were plenty of witnesses.

What’s this about a “Burial at sea”?

(I was out of pocket because of the tornado… took out electricity, phones, internet for a couple of days.  Don’t have any Idea what happened to my sailboat… but, that is insignificant compared to the losses and suffering of the many.  We gave money… how pitiful.)

One report I read said that they had a 40 minute gun battle. And then Obama was shot. Made me wonder if they captured him and then gave him an express trip to Allah. I also read that the burial at sea was to keep his burial site from becoming a shrine. I personally wished they had drug his body through the streets of NYC behind a fire truck and then shot him.

Couldn't agree more ... but was a bit surprised when I saw this post came from you. I think setting him on fire to die like so many did at the WTC would have also been fitting. I hope the did caputure him first so he knew his death was coming. A bit surprised that Pakistan says they did not know he was there? The area is supposedly where a lot of high ranking Pakistan military live.

Maybe Saddam has briefed him on the truth about the 72 virgins.

That said... I do not want to worship a god who would give seventy-two young girls to a man to take his pleasure.  Can you imagine the terror of lying with an ugly stinking pervert?  No!  Nothing a man does on earth is fair trade for innocence.

A message from MY GOD about this:  Matthew 18: 6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Unfortunately somebody shot Osama befor he was dropped into the sea. Hmmm… that reminds me of the four types of parachute jumps: Low altitude-low opening LOLO, High altitude - Low opening HALO, Low altitude - no opening LONO, and High Altitude - no opening HANO.

I was kind of hoping Osama would get a HANO.

Average terminal velocity for the human body is 187 mph. Hitting water at that velocity is roughly the same as hitting black top.

How ironic that the information that ultimately led to this happy day came from enhanced interrogations that occurred at Gitmo. We got the name of OBL's trusted courier from KSM and the CIA was able to track them to this compound.

ALWAYS fire two warning shots, then aim for the bridge of the nose - I think the warning shots should be directed high center of mass. If the first two 230 grain warnings do not allow a clear face shot, simply move to a new location that will. My wife disagrees on warning shot placement, she prefers an area about two feet lower. She is a sweetheart.....

Give me an F-ing break. I and many others give credit where credit is do ... there is little he has done that I feel has been good for the country ... for whatever role he played in this, I give him credit. But what else has he done other than run up spending, prolong the recession, focus on the wrong things when he should be focused on creating jobs and reducing spending and giving incentives to companies to keep or create jobs in the uSA ... how about his restriction on drilling and not agreeing to use natural gas, etc ... he is focused on wind mills and solar panels that do close to zero in terms of energy production. The guy is a dope. I doubt he had little to do with what came down ... but he did make the call once it was brought to his attention and I give him credit for that. And BTW ... I made that exact statement to several people today. I still hate the guy and think he is destructive to the US, and disagree with his socialist thinking and big government mentality ... but I at least give him credit that he did not whimp out and come up with an excuse not to go after him. I am sure his advisors told him it would boost his ratings in the polls. Don't forget Bush senior had a 94% approval rating after Desert storm ... and lost to Clinton 18 months later.

In fairness, reports are saying that they actually got these tips at least 4 years ago, during the "enhanced" interrogations. It has taken this long to collaborate the information and to use it. Really guys, instead of turning this into a political thread, can't we just be grateful we got the SOB? Bush beefed up the intelligence community that permitted them to be able to collaborate the tips, Obama gave the go ahead to kill him. Maybe some of us who have not liked the idea of "enhanced" interrogation techniques need to rethink our positions. Obviously, it paid off here. It's day of justice fulfilled and closure. Let's just have a moment with that.

That was my point and I intentionally never mentioned any names although it was obvious who put them in Gitmo and who approved the enhanced interrogation and who has consistently opposed both but is now going to enjoy the political benefits. Such is life and I am just fine with the Messiah getting credit. Its on his watch and he gets the good and the bad. Let's face it, this is the firt good thing to happen to the guy in two years. Let him enjoy it as it will not last. We will soon be back to stagflation, unemployment, etc. What would be a classy gesture would be to acknowledge the benefits he reaps from the previous administration but that would be impolitic at best.

Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama each made the killing or capture of Osama as stated policy. Obama did it even knowing that failure would bring unending rage and destroy the possibility that he could be elected to a 2d term!!! That is leadership...whether or not anyone on this forum is willing to admit it.

Archie, you are obviously very proud that after two years the Messiah finally does one thing right following the lead of W. But I don't think Clinton called for the death of OBL when he was President. I believe that bin Laden's infamy post dated the Clinton Presidency. If you recall bin Laden was offered to Clinton by the Saudis and he turned them down. Either way, good for Obama to order the strike. It was the right decision although I seriously doubt that failure would cost him a 2nd term. His failed domestic policies and feckless foreign policy will do that if it happens. But calling for the strike was leadership and good for him.

Clinton specifically called for the killing or capture of Bin Laden late in his 2d term before Osama was well known to the world. I believe he even ordered a bombing raid on an Afgan or Packy compound where Osama was incorrectly thought to be.(he had been there earlier but left a day or so before). The Clinton admin even specifically briefed Bush's incoming security director Condelizza Rice on Osama by name. This all came out thanks to the "liberals" after 9/11. I'm sure you have simply forgotten recent history.

Archie strikes again with one of his many serial errors. Quote from Rumsfeld's interview by Matt Lauer on the Today Show: Rumsfeld trumpeted the importance of gathering intelligence and, potentially familiar with some information provided at a White House briefing, stated the crucial details that led to bin Laden’s demise “may very well have been partly a result of some of the interviews that took place at Guantanomo Bay, Cuba.” Now admittedly that is not exactly a definitive statement but it is definitely in direct opposition to what Archie wished he heard. You see Archie, so many of us had the guts to give Obama credit for ordering the strike but you lack the guts to admit that W and Rumsfeld and Cheney all contributed to the success of sending OBL to his eternal reward. Talk about hypocrisy....

My recollection is that Rumsfeld favored the enhanced interrogation techniques, though I can't quote you a source off the top of my head. Right or wrong, I'm now glad that they did it, and I'm glad we got the intelligence and I'm glad we killed the SOB. It really doesn't do any good to keep rehashing the Bush Administration's policies. Right or wrong, they did what they did and in this particular case, it led to Osama's death. Which was one of the main points of the policies, wasn't it? Bush rebuilt the Intelligence community Humit, which Clinton had all but destroyed. it was a good thing. Did Clinton call for the death of Osama? I don't think so, but I could be wrong. He correctly pinpointed him as a "enemy of the US", which turned out to be right. You know I'm not a huge fan of GWB because of IRAQ, but when it came to intelligence he was spot on.

Rumsfeld specifically said that the info which started the process in motion was obtained on Bush's watch and that it HAD NOT been obtained by enhanced methods. Donald Rumsfeld in a Monday interview with the conservative magazine Newsmax..."It is true that information that came from normal interrogation approaches at Guantanimo led to information that was beneficial in this instance, but it was not from harsh interrogation, it was not from water-boarding."

Archie, Archie, Archie. You are such a misguided rube. I never said a word about water boarding and neither did Rumsfeld. I used the term enhanced interrogation techniques which if you read anything other than the HuffnPuff Post you would know that this covers a wide variety of techniques of which water boarding is but one. You on the other hand seem to believe, albeit incorrectly, that water boarding is the only method. Do a little research, educate yourself, learn something and you too would, if you had the guts, admit that Gitmo and enhanced interrogation techniques approved by the Bush administration played a role in locating OBL. Only you and probably Keith Olberman are so ideologically blind that you could not admit what is patently obvious to the rest of the thinking world. I provided you with his quote to Matt Lauer and it stands on its own as a refutation of your post. My goodness Archie, even the Messiah's administration gives the Bush administration credit for helping with the kill. See Mr. Holder's recent quotes in a number of government media articles. So Archie, you stated unequivocally something that Rumsfeld never said. Archie, you are wrong again, you are almost always wrong (even a broken clock is right twice a day) and you can't even admit it. Get help my friend because you need some serious intervention. Medication might help. If not I would seriously consider checking yourself into a facility that can help the terminally delusional. Keep em coming Archie, it is like shooting fish in a barrel.....

Oh excuse me O mighty one and superior of all you encounter, I am of course completely wrong and humbly beg your forgiveness. You are right, absolutly right as always...Rumsfeld did not say no "enhanced" interrogation was use, he said no "harsh" interrogation was used.

As I said Archie, Rumsfeld stated on live TV on the Today Show that enhanced interrogation may have aided in collecting information important to tracking him down. But don't worry, I don't expect you to have an ounce of integrity and admit that W and his administration played a role in this success. We will leave that to dozens of others that also detest Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc. but do have integrity. As for I and others, we have given the Messiah his due.

Archie, you get partial credit for this one although the missile strikes were not specifically targeting OBL. See below from CNN. "Let our actions today send this message loud and clear there are no expendable American targets, U.S. President Clinton said in a televised address to the American people Thursday evening. There will be no sanctuary for terrorists. We will defend our people, our interests and our values. U.S. officials say the six sites attacked in Afghanistan were part of a network of terrorist compounds near the Pakistani border that housed supporters of millionaire Osama bin Laden. An official of the Taliban, Afgahanistans Islamic rulers, reported 21 were killed and 30 were injured in the missile strikes in eastern Afghanistan." It seems they were targeting supporters of OBL although later in the article they pointed out OBL may have been in one of the camps.

Hey, I voted for Bush (though I now regret it) and give him and his administration great credit for setting in motion the process that ended so well on Sunday.* Now, my response about Rumsfeld's interview was specifically aimed at the claims by other posters that made the iron clad claim that "enhanced" interrogation had led to this American victory. The fact is we have no idea and probably never will know where, how and from whom all the likely millions of bits of info that created the mosaic of this kill were obtained.

* I would love for you and more than a microscopic few like-minded posters to be as willing to give similar credit to Obama and to be willing to publicly state it in this forum. That will be the "New Jerusalem"!!

Even so, he is CIC and he gets credit for a successful op and blame if it ends disastrously. That is life as a chief executive.
