My handyman found mold growing under our lakehouse while making other repairs. He bleached/disinfected it/killed it,,, but??
Did not even know it was there!!
My house has pier foundation, with the lot sloped gently from right to left related to waterline, with siding down to ground level. Rainwater from the torrential rains this year had run under the house and kept the soil too moist over time.
Just a warning about your house.

I had flooding in my house years ago (pipe break). Bleach is good for non-pourous surfaces but for wood and concrete it takes more. My contractor used some kind of chemical but I don't know the name of it. I remember him saying that he needed a license to obtain it. It was the consistency of doughnut glaze and hardened on the surface to which it was sprayed. I can still see the glaze drippings 9 years later. It must have the effect of sealing in the mold pores so air cannot get to them. In some research tonight I read that without this strong biocide chemical that the mold will come back 99% of the time on porous surfaces, even cleaned with bleach or ammonia. If this wasn't done, I suggest monitoring it closely for re-emergence.

Remember never mix bleach and ammonia.

trick used after Katrina to get bleach to stick and penetrate wood was to add a little dish soap to the bleach mixture. Soap acts as a surfactant and makes the bleach stick better. Cheap solution that works.

To fix your problem, you will need to route water away from your house. May need gutters, but you've got to keep things dry--I've seen people put fans under the house that run all the time.

Prior to this year, the crawl space has been completely dry. Just too much rain. The plan is to use concrete, gravel, fill dirt to raise level along a wall and channel water away. Should work. And, check often for more mold.
Thanks

It was recommended to us to line the crawl space under the home with thick black plastic. It keeps the moisture from rising up through the ground. It seems to work. We've had it a year.
