OK, I'm going to try this again. We are looking at pontoon boats and one we are interested in has a black bimini top. Will it be hotter than a blue or green?

"You will never notice a difference with those colors" is the vote from the 4 science majors in the room at my house right now (two chemistry, one biology, and one physics).....only one Auburn grad though.

of your scientists owned a boat with a black top? I have--and never again. If you're moving it doesn't matter much, but when you stop and the breeze dies, you'll die. I have a tan top on this boat, and it's a lot better.

Just giving out the answers I got when I threw out he question......tan was not an option. Everyone else is gone now, but my bet would be that very light colors would make a slight difference, but blue or green would be negligible.

As for experience, I did have black once and I have light grey now; I can't say I've noticed a difference, but we don't sit still much either.

Agree on the blue or green--I've had the dark blue and it would be little different than the black. I changed the dark blue on an enclosed flybridge to white and it made a huge difference.
