As of the past Month, MM (aka. Pinky) has been destroying his "Bumper Rails" on his Yamaha PWC.  I can't get enough info from him to determine the cause, but I welcome any suggestions yall may have.  I have thought about designing and building "PWC Brush Gaurds" (not sure that is spelled right).  If anyone can help with this, let me know.

Sounds like MM is having operator trouble - if he keeps misjudging the length of his own dock, perhaps a reality check is needed.  If he keeps running into someone else's dock.....  Not sure that a bush guard is quite what he needs.

Maybe You should install some Dock Feelers....Like the ones from the 80's on cars to keep from scrubbing the white walls....LOL

LOL...  The 80's?  You must have been a late adopter. Great idea, I think CAT and HPHQ could sell "dock feelers", just not sure what kind of business license would be required and if they could sell them in Tallapoosa County.

First of all, the only time I drive the dang thing is when it is taking on water and ready to sink and I am the poor sap that has to dash back to the house before it goes under.  I can tell stories about how fun that is.......but I won't......bad memories.....shudder.......

So the better question is what the heck do my kids and their friends do to the front bumper that busts up the fiberglass........  Now the alleged answer to that is when they approach to put it on the float they misjudged and bumped into it and damaged the fiberglass.  I can see that happening but if they approach slow enough there should be no damage....jes sayin.

I frankly think it is a design flaw that the front bumper is held on by a small strip of fiberglass and only three bolts. The manufacturer would probably respond that the jet ski was not designed as an ice breaker and we were mistreating it. All I know is I was determined to go redneck and leave the bumper off but Cat would not allow that to happen.  So they fixed and one of the kids promptly broke it again.  It needs metal!  I want it to sink the float next time they bump it!!

Rant over.....I feel much better......y'all stop making fun of me.......

Once you crack the front part of the hull on a Yamaha you might as well find a junk hull and replace it. The way that hull is designed it does not work well with jet docks that float very high out of the water. Get a low floating dock and a new hull, or just get a seadoo and have different problems.

It is amazing how these little toys can make such cynics of even the most optimistic of people. :-)  My first jet ski was a Kawasaki 1100 that I bought used and could probably have bought a new one for the cost of maintenance New engine, electronics, etc., etc.).  The next one was theYamaha that has actually been relatively trouble free.  I totally agree with you about the Yamaha and the low nose.  We have the same float with the Kawasaki and it has never been a problem.  Boats, jet skis, planes, RVs.......all meant to put us in the poor house.......

If anyone would like to see a modified Yamaha bumper go to Cole Boatworks on this site. Basically it is 2x8 board fiberglassed to the hull and cap.

Would it help if you suspended a couple of concrete blocks off the back end of the jet dock?
