I am getting married Dec 1st 2012 and I'm hoping to find somewhere to hold the wedding outside or at least close enough to outside to see. It will be a very small wedding...20 guests tops. I'm fairly new to the Montgomery area and I am not too familiar with things around here. Any suggestions on outdoor/indoor wedding sites around the Lake Martin area?

The obvious choice is Children's Harbor Harbor House.
Then there is Sinclairs. I'm sure there are many places that accommodate a small group.

Richard, that was just wrong. CATHOUSE could hold your wedding, prolly for free.

First of all, congratulations. If you are from Canada, an outdoor December wedding on the lake may be very nice, however the weather can very unpredictable that time of year. Children's Harbor is a good idea if you can book it..... If it were me (and only 20 people were involved) I'd head to south Florida if I wanted a water venue at somewhat reasonable cost; Key West or Sanibel Island would be my pick. You can stay for the honeymoon and the rest of the folks might enjoy a warm vacation for a few days. The gulf coast is another idea that's much closer, less expensive, and has a little better chance of decent weather.

Only 20 guests. CAT could host it on his boat in the middle of Kowliga Bay!

What is cathouse? Haha I'm actually from just outside of Dothan. Both of us love the outdoors and the lake. It seems like the perfect place to get married.

Try Springhouse... We had a wedding there and it was great! Michelle who is the contact person can tell you about the downstairs area where smaller groups gathe for a reception. The gardens are beautiful and inviting. We had a violinist play for the wedding and reception...exceptional food.. and a great value all around.

I think the "outdoor" church in Stillwaters has a really nice setting. I'd look at it before deciding unless you want a fancier venue.

Hi. My husband and I recently hosted a small wedding at our home overlooking Lake Martin. We're just completing a major renovation oh our home. The great room, kitchen and dining room have floor length windows to the lake. The great room is 24' x 30' and includes a stacked stone fireplace. If the weather is nice, we have a gazebo on the point right on the water. We are having a professional kitchen installed and are both gourmet cooks. We'd like to talk to you about hosting your wedding. Please keep in mind that the water level will be down throughout Lake Martin at that time of year. Oh, and to the person who suggested the church in Stillwaters, they do not allow weddings after Labor Day. We tried to have ours there in September and couldn't.

My daughter got married at the Children's Chapel at Children's Harbor in December. It was beautifully decorated with wreaths in the windows and a lighted Christmas tree (the staff does this after Thanksgiving) and my daughter didn't have to worry about buying flowers. There is a rental fee for the Chapel that goes to a great cause.
