At least some of our tax dollars are productive. Check out this view from space.

That monster almost dwarfs the entire East Coast. Lake Martin may get its two feet of water back in one swoop. Wishfully, it could take all the Grandpappa Bass out of Lake Okeechobee and gently place them in Lake Martin and leave the alligators behind.
Being more serious, I do feel for all the poor folks in Florida.

Thanks, feb. We are buckling up and honkering down so we can ride this thing out.

Hope you and everyone else stays safe. Got some family down in the Ft. Pierce/Vero Beach area. I will watch this one closely. Dread thinking of all the potential property damage, but wish everyone would get out of the path of it if they can.

As an update, Frances is passing just to the southwest of us. We should get the worst of the wind within the next 2 hours. At our house, heavy winds (60 - 75 mph) and rain right now but we still have power! Looks like we won't get the hit that Charlie gave us, but will suffer from all of the rain. We are currently at 6 leaks and counting.
Stewart and Ft. Pierce got hit hard early this morning. Reports of a lot of damage and power outages. At one point early this morning, 4.5+ million lost power in Florida - now we are at only 1.8 million (thanks to all of elec. crews from AL, GA, Miss, SC, NC, etc. helping out).
